I think the first book was a little bit better, but I loved this book too.

So good

I absolutely love most of the guys. But Ama almost has a hero complex that I don’t understand. Why put yourself at constant risk to save people who hate you?

Night contains spoilers. I like the idea/plot of this book. I really enjoyed the first book and how it ended it was very intense. I loved how this book picked up with AMA’s father I wish he was in more scenes. I also liked how the heirs were all planning on how to take back their kingdoms. But where the book fell a little flat for me was adding another mate. I’ve read other series that have 6 or more mates, and I feel like it needs to be done correctly. I dislike Jace, I don’t like the way he’s acted, I don’t like the way he’s treated her other mates. His parents seem SUS, and the way he knew they were gonna announced their marriage and gave her no warning about it. I don’t like Nico, he seemed like he was gonna redeem himself after his one chapter. But then he did a complete 180, turned into a total ass. I feel like these books need to be longer and have more depth and more relationship growth. I understand the ending was coming, but it seemed kind of forced. Like there’s too many things going on in this book at one time. I really do like Fin I think he is my favorite along with Damien, but the others are kind of boring and blend in together. They need more distinction and depth, also more meaningful moments where we see each one interacting with Ama in a meaningful way outside of sex.

Imbalance is the second book in R.L.Caulder's and M. Sinclair's Monarchs of Hell series. Things pick up where book one left off. The ruling monarchs and all in attendance have found themselves attacked by two the ruling houses who were never meant to hold power in the first place. Ama and her men are in danger, and the chance at escape is extremely low with the wards in place. Help comes in an unexpected form, but at what cost? While they are able to escape, the truth remains, they will be hunted down and they are going to need some serious help if they are going to survive.
Imbalance in comparison to book one isn't as good in my opinion, but it does have some good elements to it. This book is a page-turner as I'm eager to find out what happens next with these characters. There are going to be some additions to Ama's harem so prepare yourself. I like this new city that they are taken to by another hybrid. I love that there is this interesting twist that no one in this world knew about because of how terribly hybrids were treated over the years. The twists are definitely interesting as you don't really know where things are about to go.
There is quite of drama in this book. I enjoy drama, but quite a bit of this comes off as more teenage hormones than anything else. They just barely escaped with their lives and Ama and the guys are too busy lusting over each other. I can understand a bit of this, but it seems to be the focus instead of more concern for their loved ones who were left behind. Yes, a couple of them are concerned, but the rest...not so much. Sorry not sorry, but the guys need to all get a grip. I can understand the jealousy angle of all. The fated mates is new and none of them saw it coming, so they need an adjustment period. What I don't like is them trying to find an excuse to take each other out under the guise of "doing it for Ama." They just need to say, "I'm doing it for me, so that there is one less to compete with." Ama already has six mates and now two more are getting added, but it seems that none of the original group (including Ama) are that bright. All are royalty. So that should be a big hint for them when the new guy shows up mysteriously. So, for them to be that dense to not put two and two together sooner...disappointing and shows that they aren't using the head that truly counts.
I'm hoping that things get straightened out with the characters, because this book series started out so good, and this book gets a bit mired down. The guys need to grow up. Period. I'm hoping that the storyline will go full steam ahead into the promising drama of reclaiming what is rightfully theirs as the heirs. I'm rating this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left us dangling over that cliff, and we see Ama and her (partially begrudging) harem set out in search of the mythical hybrid city.

Along the way, Ama picks up not one, but TWO more mates, bringing her total to a hearty 8. If anyone can juggle this much testosterone, it’s definitely Ama. Home girl is wise beyond her years, and I felt that we really got to see her emotional maturity come forward in this second installment. Especially in contrast to some of her men who are having a hard time adjusting to their new normal after the chaos at the summit. Ama is patient and kind (up to a point) and isn’t afraid to be very clear about what she needs.

One of Ama’s new mates (I won’t say which bc spoilers) is probably one of my new favorites, alongside Adrien and Finias. I’m really excited to learn more about his backstory in book 3, and how he will have to learn how to play nice and share with the others.

Ama finally goes to pound town in book 2, and it was well worth the wait. Her scenes with Finias and Adrien (individually and together) were hot, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for more group scenes in book 3.

After the chaotic ending in book 1, we thankfully pick up right where we left off with (you guessed it) more fricking chaos!

The Council Summit was a bloody disaster, literally and figuratively, leaving Ama and the boys scrambling to find a way to save the realms from utter destruction.

We do meet quite a few new characters in Imbalance—hello Jace & Dream Hottie (I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!!), and new alliances are forged, BUT of course things can’t be too hunky-dory. Discord is brewing between Ama and her mates and I hate it. HATE IT!!!

Which leads us to the ending that I still am screeching about. I need answers and I need everything to be ok, ok?!???

R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair continue to absolutely blow my mind to smithereens with this story! I am completely obsessed with Ama and her men! Ama is such a fighter, but also a lover. She fights with heart, passion and loyalty. She is without a doubt of my favorite heroines of all time!

The steam ramps up ten-fold in this book and I.AM.HERE.FOR.IT! Each of Ama’s mates is so unique and completely their own in their own way. They each bring something so special to Ama and the chosen family they have created.

This book brought even more action, lust, love, excitement, thrill and so much more! It exceeded all of my hopes for this book and I am beyond excited to see where book 3 takes us!
