I’ve fallen in love with yet another fictional world. This book is so beautifully written and the descriptive details are magical! Kaan and Raeve are definitely two of my new favorite characters. The emotions that I felt while reading this were intense! The love that Kaan has for Raeve is completely unmatched and the heartbreak of watching her push her feelings down because she thought herself so unworthy of love just hit my soul so deeply. I wish I had read it sooner and I can’t wait for the next book release!

This book was okay. I enjoyed some parts, but I do agree that the author could’ve shortened the story. The author’s writing is very lyrical, so if you’re not used to it, you may have a hard or difficult time enjoying the book.

The part I enjoyed the most was when
Raeve meets the Johkull Clan. Everything involving those scenes had me glued to the pages. And when Kaan had to fight for Raeve, ugh. I love me a good fight scene where a big, strong man has to come save the woman of his dreams.

I just wished there were more
spicy scenes with Raeve and Kaan. For a book with that many chapters, I expected more spice.

If you’re looking for a book that is more focused on slow world-building, this book would be perfect for you.

A truly complex and intoxicating first book of the series. What I thought was going to be a straightforward adventure romantasy had a depth I wasn't expecting and hit me harder than I would have liked.

I really enjoyed this one! It was a pretty lengthy read, but it never felt like I was trying to crest Mt Everest to finish it; it kept me hooked the whole time. Raeve’s determination to make the world around her a better place turning into an Icarus-style need for revenge definitely had me exasperated at times (you just want her to take the good things when they come!), but it felt very realistic for her story. I LOVE the plot with The Other and am excited to see how that pans out more in book 2!

Soooo wordy. World building but like to an extreme trying to come up with different ways to explain things.  Lots of repetitive phrases. Also the plot like keeps building but there wasn’t ever like an actual conflict. All the ”enemies” are dealt with in like 33 seconds but 900 words.

Make sure to read the trigger warnings.
This is a lot of world building. A fair amount of borrowing from other fantasy novels, but done in a way that feels new.
It’s a slow start to understand the lore and the plot, but once you get through that, it is a devastating read.
Waiting for fall of 2025 is going to be difficult.
The MFC is the definition of an unreliable narrator, especially to herself. The MMC is purposefully vague, and trying to follow the story for the first 30 chapters was a struggle. All in all, I enjoyed this book.
