Slow paced in some areas with other areas picking up the pace. There is some information that is not needed and should have been edited more

I felt like Colleen Hoover started with a good premise and promising characters but executed it like poorly written fan fiction. There are so many cheesy romance tropes and predictable plot points that you can pretty much tell where the story is going from the beginning. There are some really interesting moments in regards to the complexity of grief and the enigma that is a mother-daughter relationship but it's so matted down by fillers: descriptions of tears streaming down and finding ways to have characters straddle each other. Those moments never get the attention they deserve.
