This one was spooky. Reading this in bed at night scared me a little more than I would have liked to admit. Pendergast continues to grow more and more interesting with each book which means that the books get better and better. Preston & Child paint the setting vividly and transports me right into that small, peculiar town. I also loved the new characters introduced in this one. I know I'm only on 4 out of (soon-to-be) 19 novels, but I hope I see goth Corrie Swanson again.

Na LC ta część, z wszystkich czterech, które przeczytałam, ma najwyższą ocenę. Nie bardzo wiem dlaczego. Bo nie ma nadnaturalnych postaci? Bo dzieje się w środowisku wyjętym niemal z powieści Kinga? Naprawdę nie mam pojęcia. Nadal o przygodach Pendergasta czyta się z zapartym tchem, ale mam wrażenie, że za czwartym razem zaczynam zauważać schematyczność tej serii. Co nie zmienia, że staje się moją ulubioną.

This book was a compelling read, even though I had figured out where the plot was mostly headed long before it got there. The characters and setting were interesting enough to keep me engaged.
