So after my coworker had asked me to read this book a few years back, I finally got a chance to read it. I didn't start with the first book in the series since he said the books were ok as stand-alones. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat & the ending was not what I expected. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book & I'll probably check out the other books from the series.

The whole getting lost in the underground maze is getting a little old, but is still capable of getting under my skin. I mean, even if you escape from the monster and win you can die just trying to find your way out, especially in complete darkness.
Some really unnerving moments, butter and sugar, but overall a consistent feeling of suspence and mystery. Plus continuation of building character backgrounds and histories. I hope we get to hear more about Corrie, I think she has a good future.

Very good book! Really enjoyed that this book had Pendergast out of New York and more in a rural setting. This book kept me guessing until the reveal. Really enjoying this series.
I got distracted by Throne of Glass
