Beyond thrilled to be reviewing this as an ARC reader! —- Rating 5+ stars / Spice: 4/5 peppers —- This book… I swooned, I cackled, and I SOBBED my eyes out! Make the Play truly hit every mark for me - the plot, the characters, the humor, the pain… I don't know if any Book Boyfriends will ever live up to Chase Walton and his sweetness/swagger. Thank you, Hailey, for these characters and their story! —- This is Book 2 in a series of interconnected standalones, best read in order. —- What to Expect: - One Night Stand -> Fake Dating - Cocky Playboy - Sassy Black Cat FMC - Frenemies with BANTER - He Falls First - Found Family

“Because if I f**k you right now, I won’t be able to pretend it doesn’t mean something. And I don’t think you’re ready to admit it does.”

Wedding hookups that are supposed to be a one and done deal but they never really are. Fast forward to after the wedding, Zoe is the PR exec for the Colorado Storm and Chase is the pro hockey player that lands himself in a PR nightmare. Upper management has to do damage control and what better way than fake dating and making Chase look like he is reformed in his ways and has managed to find someone to settle down with. Zoe and Chase have the banter and the ability to rile each other up like no other. From glimpses of their interaction in the first book Seal the Deal in the series you could tell that the chemistry was there and hidden behind the innuendos. What I didn’t expect is Chase giving golden retriever vibes whose love language entails acts of service. His attention to detail exceeded all expectations but more so the way he was able to show Zoe that he was present even before the fake relationship started. The book has some suspense, dirty talk that is top tier and best of all you get to see a relationship evolve into something beautiful.
To being “messy, real and F***ing in love”

Chase and Zoe have had an intense attraction since she started working for the Storm. They both have fought it for years but it time to get it out their system. An amazing one night stand then 2weeks later a PR nightmare that requires a fake relationship between them. Navigating their fake relationship allows even more feeling to develop into a lifetime love especially when a new threat presents itself. I truly loved the chemistry with these two!

Unnecessarily too much smut and usage of the word feral, FMC barely had a redemption/growth arc, MMC could be sooooo immature

My girl Hailey had done it once again. We're back with the Colorado Storm hockey team this time with our boy, Chase. And I'll tell you I ate this right up. Jfc that festival tent scene. Exquisite. The build up of the scavenger hunt. The heat coming off the two of them is tangible. The scene in the tent itself? Panty melting. Chase has a filthy mouth and Zoe (and I) enjoy every bit of it. Chase is the man built to RUIN you with a single minded focus. And you'll happily produce a tear (not from your eyes) for him while he does it. This is an interconnected stand alone,  so it's not necessary to have read the first book, but it would help you understand the dynamics of the team. Hailey,  I'll absolve l absolutely take it personally if I don't get to read book 3.

This is my second book with Hailey Rodger and dare I say this book was better than the last!

Zoe and Chase's story starts in the first book. Chase is TROUBLE and Zoe is tasked with managing all of his PR nightmares over the course of the last book in the background to get us to this book which shines a light on Chase and why he may be hiding behind all the jokes and witty banter with Zoe.

I was kicking my feet the entire book because Zoe gives as good as she takes from Chase and one night of passion between these two leads to them having to 'fake date.' Little does Zoe know that Chase has ALWAYS had a thing for Zoe. He would follow her any where.. He is the gold retriever and he is ready to crawl to his woman.

This heartfelt story shows that if you keep showing up maybe the person you love will finally stop keeping you at a distance and realize that they deserve the love you're willing to give and accept it.

Trigger warnings... She has a stalker. There was a slight kidnapping and she was kind of drugged. So, maybe read those TW and take a moment if you need to while reading. I will tell you it does end in a HEA so, there's that.

AHHHHHHHH! i cant scream about this book enough, and there is nothing i can even write that would do it justice. @haileyrodger.writes wrote the most perfect couple. chase walton and zoe carlson are actually perfect for each other. the banter in this book...sweet mother of god. not to mention that i don't think i've ever read a simpier man. not a single woman on earth would fault zoe for folding because chase is perfection.

this book had a darker subplot than the previous book and despite how STRESSED i was (girl had me PRESSED with all of the teasers) i actually felt like it was essential. i also felt that it really elevated Make The Play from Seal The Deal.

if you haven't read Seal The Deal, do it. Make The Play is available June 12th so you still have some time. it's not essential but it reeeeaaalllly completes the picture.
