The quality of writing in this book took a sharp drop from the other two books in this trilogy. I was bored most of the time, and honestly, the plot was getting old. When new plots were brought in, they weren’t threshed out well enough, and as a consequence, they felt underdeveloped and were simply uninteresting.

And you can say what you want about adopted siblings getting married and being in love, but it is NASTY. Avery and Atlas’s romance is just nasty. I could MAYBE understand it if Atlas was adopted when he was older, and they hadn’t grown up together- actually, wait. I absolutely couldn’t. It’s so disgusting.

And let’s talk about how the only gay couple in the entire series was conveniently killed off. Eris, a beautiful, shining example of a pansexual character-something we don’t see enough in literature- is portrayed as a hoe and JUST as she’s changing for the better, Leda kills her. Then, Mariel is portrayed as this creepy stalker- listen here, Katherine. You can’t just kill off the only gay couple in the entire series and expect us to not be mad about it. WE ARE MAD ABOUT IT. AUTHORS, STOP INCLUDING QUEER CHARACTERS AND KILLING THEM OFF. It’s not accurate! Sorry to disappoint you, but we don’t die every 5 minutes. Most of us tend to have longer lifespans. And, spoiler alert: The LGBTQ+ community can read, and we’re a part of your demographic as well. We also have feelings and emotions. So would it really have killed you to have- oh, I don’t know, Avery and Atlas be killed off? I’m sorry, I’m just having trouble with the fact that an incestous relationship made it through three books fully intact and a positive queer relationship got 1/4 of a book and then ended.

Some parts of this book were okay, but for the most part, it was boring, and hard to get through. The “representation” was weak, and the plot was ill-contrived and overdone. 2/5 stars.

A rather bittersweet ending but i felt satisfied. it was only the epilogue that dampened it a bit
i wish it hadnt made avery and atlas the whole point , why couldnt them all growing and getting a second chance be enough?

“Sometimes what we need is a story—a well-made, uplifting story—to help the world make sense again.”

This was a good ending for this trilogy, and I have to admit that I’m going to miss these characters.

Unpopular opinion: I would’ve liked it more if the epilogue didn’t happen, which feels weird to say when the ending was good. I guess I just wanted it to end very abrupt and sad.

One thing I’m confused about is a character that got introduced in the second book. I thought that the character was going to end up with one of the main characters, I shipped it, but then it never happened and then they just disappeared from the story? I understand they weren’t getting together but like can we get a hint that they’re alive or something?

Anyway still love it

Unfortunately this one wasn't as good as the first two books in my opinion.

Everyone was so depressed all the time and the plot dragged.

Still 4 stars, because I love the setting and love the characters!

I finally got around to reading The Towering Sky and finishing up this series. I actually reread the first two books as it’s been a quite some time since I first read them.

I actually started book three shortly after it was released yet never read past the first few chapters. This time, I was able to get into the story and find out the conclusion….which slightly annoyed me.

First off, book one remains my favorite of the series. Book two was ok although I found parts dragging and some unnecessary.
Book three also falls under just ok. Good but just ok.
Some parts interesting, some I never would have guessed, a few predictable, some dragged out far too much and others could have been left out entirely. I found myself skimming over some parts.
I did enjoy how each character’s story wrapped up. I liked Leda a bit more in this book, I felt her character did a lot of growing, maturing and we finally got to see more of Leda’s true self. At times, we saw her tough exterior get replaced by vulnerability and we see her truly care for the others. I think throughout the three books, I liked her character’s story/growth/development the most. Watt finally starts to realize how much “real life” he’s missing and we get to see him come to terms with parts of his life. He also surprised me a bit, I’m happy with how his story finishes. Rylin honestly lost my interest and felt like, aside from being one of the four on the roof that night, her story could have just faded into the background. Since she was “one of the four”, she obviously needed to be kept until the end but I just felt like there wasn’t much given to her part. Calliope…. I have mixed feelings as I liked her character and how she grew but there was just too much to her storyline. I could have done without all the wedding/stepfamily nonsense.
Avery was slightly predictable after a certain point. Interesting but not completely a surprise. I never got “poor little perfect rich girl” vibes and I love how she prefers vintage/old ways of doing things but… I don’t know. I would have loved to see her rebel more or just… something. I wanted her to just forget all the guys and just discover who she really is and what she wants. We got a bit out her towards the end but for the most part, she remained the same Avery since book one.
But the end….ugh… I didn’t see it ending like that. I mean, it was leading up to what felt like a nice closure only to be left feeling open ended/incomplete in a way. Leading up to the epilogue didn’t really match with the epilogue ending (I know that makes little sense but trying to avoid spoilers). It’s like …. Will it go this way? Or just stay on the path to that? lol again, trying to avoid any spoilers

Overall, an interesting series and at least now I know what happened. More 3.5 stars but gave it 4 because it is an interesting series.

WOW! I didn’t expect that kind of ending but at the same time I’m happy it happened??

So in this final installment, I think it’s the last? Dunno but it’s bitterswet!, well you see the gang. Not everyone knows of the death that happened at the end in book 2. However, the police are trying to figure out who did it. I had my theories and I was so happy that my #1 suspect was it! I mean, I was still shocked and shit but really happy because my detective skills are getting better!

A lot happened in this book though. Secrets came out and it was about god damn time. However, I feel like the characters didn’t grow much in this book. Except for Avery because at the end of the book she wasn’t a whiny little bitch anymore. Not my favorite character but she was tolerable at the end.

I thought there was going to be another mysterious death, and the person I thought was gonna die..kind of frustrated me. It was for a dumb reason that they were bringing this dramatic death to my ears (this was an audio btw) and I was just rolling my eyes. I get it. It was dramatic but kind of unnecessary.

In the end, I still loved this book. I was so happy with the outcome. I secretly still hope for another book. If not, I will dive into another book from this author.

What a great conclusion to a great story!!

i think katherine gives herself a personal quota of how many plot twists she can manage to fit into a book at a tim
