katharine mcgee really nails worldbuilding in contemporary/history or sci-fi or whatever else she's doing. i love it. it's like gossip girl meets whatever other genre i typically don't care about.
Another book full of teen gossip, secrets, and all-around drama.
If we're being honest, I probably should have given up on this trilogy a while ago. I found the first two books to be kinda meh. Their stories and structures seemed to be almost the exact same with just different details. But, even so, I wanted to know what happened and if it got any better. Unfortunately, The Towering Sky felt like more of the same.
Don't get me wrong. I love a good teen drama fest full of gossip and secrets. This series really did have a lot of potential. I think the problem was I just didn't care. The characters weren't particularly compelling. I didn't care about them nor the drama in their lives. Plus, I just couldn't get behind the whole brother/sister romantic relationship thing (even if he was adopted.)
That being said, I did appreciate how Katherine McGee finished things off in this book. She really did a good job of satisfactorily tying up all the different story lines.

Okay. I am still resentful about the first two books and I do not forgive the writer for killing off the lesbians, but was grudgingly impressed by the end of this one. It reminded me of Isaac Asimov’s short stories about robots, and I was pleased by the other twist as well. It made me (again, grudgingly) happy.
you have to love this series for what it is, not what you want it to be. Its not deep or meaningful or even realistic but its fun, entertaining and very drama filled.
A little too Messed up...
Though I was rooting for a few characters and they got a satisfying end so I'm not complaining, the journey with this book had quite a 'height' but it ended on a smooth note♡

Man I saw that plot twist coming from the get go. There was sooo much unnecessary drama going on. Gosh. Plus the ending was kind of unsatisfying, I guess. An boy I do not like Avery. It so ridicules how she hates being that poster perfect child, that was made in a lab or whatever, just so everyone can describe her as perfect. Not her looks no her personality. She is just basically the kindest, nicest, prettyest, smartest, awesomnest girl ever to walk this earth and it was annoying. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
