Somehow didn’t realize this was not the first book in the series but HATED the adoptive siblings love story thing so much that I could not have handled the whole series anyways

Wow I loved this whole series. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how so many story lines were tied up in a way that you can see what direction the characters go from here. And the ending was so great and sad at the same time. Really recommend!

Is there anything more satisfying than coming to the end of a series?
I've admittedly now given all three of these books 3 stars, but the allure of the drama has kept me coming back all the way through to the conclusion. I guess I've just kept hoping that these would get better. Unfortunately, I think this was probably the worst of the trilogy.
This book is largely focused on the inner conflict and turmoil of the main characters, meaning that there was unfortunately very little action or drama, my main incentive for reading these books. Very little actually happens until the final 50 pages or so, though I will say that the ending was pretty satisfying and that McGee really did get me there for a second, though I should have known how the epilogue would go.
Overall, though, no regrets here. This is a super fun, futuristic Gossip Girl dupe, perfect for turning your brain off and getting absorbed into some glitzy teenage drama.

the one good thing abt this book is it was really easy to skim because nothing fucking happens all 450 pages
I was pretty into this series as a whole, it was an interesting concept and a fresh look at a futuristic world. However, the threads the series tried to weave after a fairly strong start with the first book just did not work out. The character development stalled out and (in some cases) completely diverted. I did not understand some of the choices key people made. And suddenly all of the families around these characters are awful, when that wasn't very established in the first two books. It really felt like the author wanted to make this a trilogy, but got to book 3, ran out of ideas, and so decided to completely upend everything. In the end, no one learns anything, makes any logical choice, or gets any sort of punishment for making terrible decisions.
This series was okay. I found the characters and story line a bit flat, but still enjoyed the series. I felt the need to finish all three books as there were always cliff hangers.
