The flea bit the mouse, who spooked the cat, who clawed the dog, who bumped the child, who thumped into Grandma, who broke the bed.

Lots of fun! I like the way that the story builds upon itself only to undo everything by the end in a very humorous, silly manner.

A fun, cumulative rhyme with rich, warm illustrations and a surprise at the end. We like this one better than [b:Silly Sally|815262|Silly Sally|Audrey Wood|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1223635379s/815262.jpg|359299], but our favorite from [a:Audrey Wood|3368|Audrey Wood|http://www.goodreads.com/assets/nophoto/nophoto-U-50x66.jpg] is still [b:Quick as a Cricket|815263|Quick as a Cricket|Audrey Wood|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1178649549s/815263.jpg|1611721], of which we're ever so fond.

I think every parent should get this for their kiddos. It is an amazing “unknown” classic, perfect for nap times. I love this book. My copy was given to me by my aunt in 1991, I love it so much!

I love this children's short story.

I love the little boy. The dog. The granny. The cat. The mouse. And I even like the flea.

I love the words.

And I especially love the awesome pictures.

I have fond memories of this one as a book we used to perform with the itty bitties during theatre summer camp, as an intro to performance. A great story with lots of "roles" to perform. Plus, Audrey and Don Wood are pretty classic at these children's books.
