Enjoyed this book a lot more than the first! It was great reading about some of the characters from previous books.

I can’t wait to see what happens in the first book in the new series Debts and Diamonds later this year.

I won't be shy about it: Jakup, Konrad and Leon are incredibly fucked up men. Like REALLY fucked up. It was really hard to stick with the first book and figure out how Bea expected to redeem these men. And while I cannot say I would reread these books again, there were some really beautiful moments that went a long way to soften my heart and will stick with me. Given how it started, I was surprised by how much I felt for all of them and the horrific things that created the men they became. And the pain they went through to make a different choice.

I will say Konrad was my LEAST fave and I think that had a lot to do with how the narrator of the audiobook made him sound which... huge kudos to her for making him distinct enough to dislike. I am impressed. Truly. It is also really cool how all the stories are intertwined. Overall, I am equally glad I read them and glad I don't have to read them again.

Dark Romance lovers will probably enjoy this one a bit more than I did.

Wow, well I don't know where to start with this review! This book picks up right from where the last book left us. If you thought your emotions went through the wringer in the first book you are in for a treat with this one! Christy seriously has her work cut out for her and The Masks do not make it easy. At all. When you read this book you can feel the characters emotions as though they are your own. Bea is an amazing writer and this is one of the many reasons she is one of my favourite authors.

Simply put, this duet is amazing. It's dark, it's delicious, it's twisted. And that sneak peak into what is coming next

There’s nothing I love more than a dark book! And Bea Paige has definitely delivered that to us in this new series! I loved every aspect of this story!! I can’t wait to delve back in when book 2 releases!

First book from this author for me, 3.5 stars is probably most realistic.

To start: the writing is very good. I have no complaints from that perspective, there wasn't any weird phrases or constant mistakes, it was an easy and enjoyable book to read.

I also, per the author's warning note, liked the FMC. She is strong and confident.

I don't, however, find much redeeming in the MMCs. And I get that it's a dark romance, and I can definitely see the redemption arc being set up for them, but it's just so...constant. We barely get any moment of relief/affection for her, and they literally set her up to be SA'ed from someone outside of the group. Very little romance, some cracks of vulnerability here and there, it just didn't feel like enough.

3.5 stars.

This could have been about 100 pages shorter and lost nothing. I agree with the other reviews that we get A LOT of endless commentary about the feelings they're having, and other random information that isn't relevant to any of the plot lines. I skimmed the last third of the book because I was just tired after 400 pages and even though the ending was literally revealed at that point, I felt like I wanted to wrap it all up officially. Also, the ending for this particular grouping was a little lackluster, considering all the trials and tribulations we read about for the past 700 pages. (It's a HEA, as the author promises, just...boring.)

I did appreciate that it's a complex web of stories, although having not read the other books some of it was a bit hard to keep track of, although this duet is definitely readable as a standalone.

Mind your triggers. There's a ton of flat out SA (not dub-con, not consensual non-con, just flat out non-con) and I have some strong feelings around whether the FMC should have ever forgiven the MMCs. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine, but the physical manifestation of her virginity was just...not correct? First, it's unlikely that a 24 year old would even still have a hymen, and second, it's not way up there like the author describes. If you're going to be writing romance books for women, at least get the basic anatomy facts in order, please!

An incredibly raw and emotional finale to this series! So incredibly well-written, as I feel like I just got off of a roller coaster! A lot of darkness in this book and at a certain point, I was tempted to “skip to the good part” BUT I didn’t and I’m so glad because every chapter builds to such a satisfying conclusion! These characters, despite everything they have endured are just fascinating and seeing their redemption was so emotional to me as the reader!! This book and the first book have sent me into a book hangover, in the best possible way. The epilogue opens up a whole can of worms for the next book and I cannot wait!!
