I adored this series when I was little and it’s definetly a little childish. I forgot the first book is so slow I’m excited to get more into their adventures and hopefully the spark will come back. Enjoyable and light to listen to.

AHHH, THIS BOOK IS AMAZING, I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

So, I finished reading this book for the second time and I can't get over it. I don't understand why this things only happen in books...

I love the characters (some of them, of course). Gwen is the typical 16-year-old girl - not really, because of her family secret, but let's pretend she is - and one day her life turns upside down. To be honest, I was glad she was the one who could travel in time, instead of her cousin.

Leslie is kind of the best best friend anyone could ever ask for. Her friendship with Gwen is beautiful. Gwen even told her a family secret that no one would believe in and she did! Leslie always supports her and she's there whenever she needs. I guess there aren't many friendships like theirs.

Charlotte and aunt Glenda are so stupid that whenever they appear, I just want to enter the book and kick their asses. Ugh. Lady Arista is also kind of annoying and I don't like her very much. Oh, and it annoys me that she is always on Charlotte and Glenda's side, like they're always right, when, actually, they're always wrong.

Caroline and Nick are cute and it's obvious they love their sister Gwen very much.

About Grace... I have already read some parts of the last book and I know why she did what she did and why she acts this way and I understand, so I'll not comment. I didn't understand very well what happened between her and Falk, but it's kinda obvious they are not over each other. I would like if they stayed together in the end.

And finally Gideon... OH MY GOD. He's so stupid and annoying sometimes! I can't stand seeing him with Charlotte. It's obvious he and Gwen have feelings for each other and in this final part of the book I was like "OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING, TELL ME MORE!!!".

I really do love this book. It's probably one of my favorites and I recommend it to everyone.

Back in 2009 I got this book as a birthday present in german. I began it and laid it away after two or three chapters. I wasn't captivated by it and blamed it on my reading habit back in the day (which was mainly time travelling and sci-fi). So it began to gather dust on my bookshelf until a month ago. I picked it up und began to read all over. But I didn't get far. Three quarters in now I am so frustrated with this book that I will stop it now and plan on never take it in my hands ever again. Here are the reasons why:

I can not stand the main protagonist. She behaves sometimes like a 5 year old, sometimes like 12 years old but NEVER according or near her age, which is 16 almost 17. She's naive, dumb and changes her world view every two sentences, particularly in the middle of the book where she is thinking about who she can and who she cannot trust.
The love story was predictable and very weird since Gwendolyn has no steady thoughts and changes between girly-oh-my-god-boys-are-so-cool-mode and i-am-not-interested-mode back and forth (at least up to the point where I have read).
Also the writing style was not my cup of tea. For me it's a weird mix of easy and complex words and sentences which kept my stumbling over the words although I am a native german reader. It felt quite... forced. The jokes are, in my opinion, as stupid as hell and also quite forced. Even in passages where explainations are done there are always jokes interspersed which took out the seriousness of the topic for me.
I tried to read the english translation and must say it fits the theme better than the original german version, at least in my opinion.

If you haven't read many time travelling books and do not mind having a supernaive protagonist, then this could be for you. But for me, it ends here.

Super unique story and really well-written. Yes, this book is aimed at a more YA audience, and if the reader keeps that in mind then they can see the true value of this book. It's INCREDIBLY well done.

If you're interested in a great book with a healthy dose of innocence, give this one a try!

Okay. so this book was good, but I had one major issue with it. I loved the story and the characters and the time travel bits, but it was a little slow seeing as it didn't feel like much happened until the last hundred pages, and that wasn't the main problem. The main problem for me was the writing. I know that it was translated from German and I could definitely tell. Or maybe the author was just bad. I don't know, the writing just wasn't good. It was confusing and often repeated itself. I felt that it did a lot of explaining without explaining anything very well. I felt that the characters could have been shown more rather than just commented on. For example Charlotte. We don't see much of her and when we do she is always described as being this perfect girl who seemed meant for something great. That's about it. I wish it had moved a little faster somehow too. Somehow it seemed so sluggish even though she was traveling into the past. I guess it just wasn't for me. I may read the next book and give the benefit of a doubt that maybe this book only suffered because it was trying to explain the world too much. I don't know. I guess we shall see.
