Enjoyable but I might need a little break from Myron Bolitar. These books are great for long car trips, however.

Eh, getting a little repetitive but it was nice that Myron didn't TOTALLY get his ass kicked without Wyn around to save him.

Golf. Green. Lots of GREEN. White Sand. Mansions. A Whole New World of Language. Funny Pants. Loud Jews. Kidnapped Boy. Famous Golfers. U.S. Open. Severed Fingers. Murder. Anything To Keep The Way People Perceive This Family Alive.

So this is another installment of Myron Bolitar. I love his stories.

This one though was about golf. [a:Harlan Coben|24689|Harlan Coben|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1297818941p2/24689.jpg] even said in the beginning of the book that he and Myron Bolitar tried, but it didn't suit them.

A lot happens in this book, especially with the characters that are closely related to Myron. I mean not just the plot thickens with his next hero crusade of finding a kidnapped boy, but I mean with Esperanza and Win. I feel really bad for Win.

I liked this book, but I think it was the golf that did me in. I just could not get the concept of how great this "sport" really is. The storyline though was good. I finished this one also in a matter of hours after immediately reading [b:Drop Shot|43932|Drop Shot (Myron Bolitar, #2)|Harlan Coben|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1298423862s/43932.jpg|14597391] by [a:Harlan Coben|24689|Harlan Coben|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1297818941p2/24689.jpg]. I thought the titles should have been switched but oh well.

Also, I'm pretty sure that I've read this series out of order, so now I'm waiting for the library to get the second one and fourth one in. Oh well. I know I read Myron's stories out of order a long time ago, when I first got hooked onto Coben's work. I did not really care because the books were so great that you could pick up on what was going on with the characters' personal lives.

I think this was my first Myron book. I didn't really like it as well as I liked my first Coben book, Tell No One (which I love). It wasn't that the storyline was bad or anything, it was just as good as his other ones...It just wasn't my favorite. I don't know why, exactly. I definitely still recommend it, though. I just think some of his other works are better.

"He was pure energy; the kind of person who made you examine yourself and left you feeling just a little wanting."

When I read my first Harlan Coben (Miracle Cure) I remember the introduction to the book, where Coben warns readers that there are stereotypes that are very much a part of the period and that he feels a bit ashamed to have included. There was no such warning at the start of Back Spin, and I feel like there really should have been. What he does mention in his intro is the fact that he pretty much hates golf and knows nothing about it. I don't think that even needed to be said because it's clear from just the first chapter.

There's so much to be offended by in this book, from every single portrayal of women, to the stereotypes that surround golfers, Chinese Americans, teenagers, Jews. And that's not even mentioning the fact that almost every line in the 371 pages was a cliche.

I told my boyfriend that I was suffering through the book, and when he asked me why I said that I just wanted to know how it ended. I really wish I hadn't bothered finding out and had just put it down days ago so I could have started something far better far earlier.

"The boy was born and raised on the Main Line. But he vanished on Philadelphia's mean streets - last seen in a down town cheater's hotel. For sports agent Myron Bolitar, his client, superstar Linda Coldren, comes first, and that means unravelling the mystery of her son's kidnapping. But when Myron goes after the missing boy, he crashes through a crowd of low lifes, blue bloods and liars on both sides of the social divide. And when family skeletons start coming out of the closet, Myron is about to find out how deadly life can get..." (From Amazon)

I enjoyed this adventure of Myron Bolitar.
