Oh I can only imagine what it was to be a youngin' reading these highly horny tales for the first time... As an adult who's only familiar with these characters through Dragon Ball Z, I assure you that I have no real rose-tinted glasses. Every character in here is a horndog, or is genuinely ignorant that what they're doing is risqué.
Boy am I glad that I already know the future of Goku and Bulma, because seeing them as teenagers is just ridiculously funny!
I do want it known that all of Bulma's antics toward the opposite gender really do not speak well of females, and it's honestly no wonder that our generation's classes were full of guys who objectified our gender. If you're one to be upset about a woman who was CLEARLY written for the male gaze, then this won't be for you.
If you can look past that, then you'll be rewarded with a wonderful tale of a gal on a mission to collect all 7 Dragon Balls so that a wish can be granted! (Despite the horndog side of this manga, Bulma is a very capable 16 year-old!)

ya no. i've been told this gets better so ill give it more of a chance. But this first volume is not it.

I didn't expect much of Dragon Ball, I am a first timer to the series and just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It turned out to be a very fun and easy read. The constant perverted jokes became upsetting, it felt like children were being sexualised and just made me super uncomfortable, as much as we all like to make allowances for manga and anime I don't think it's cool at all to portray date rape and pedophillia as silly little things that some men do.
Ignoring all that, the quest to find the dragon balls is simple but effective. The plot is basic but has interesting and complex characters, and it makes or a fun volume. Interested to see how this series develops.

Goku, Oolong, and Bulma are bae. These characters are so amazing. Ahahahaha I need the next volume in my hands. The plot is excellent and the humor, although inappropriate, is so funny. Get on it and read this!!!!
