disclaimer! 3 stars is not that bad of a rating!! I think this book might be great as an audiobook. It's visceral and it feels very told, like it should be spoken, like I can hear the sentences spilling from the character's minds. but ohh those sentences. I did not particularly like the writing style. The extremely long sentences (however long you think is long, these are longer) made it very hard to read this unless I was sitting down with no interruptions, because whenever I looked up I lost my place and couldn't rely on paragraphs or even really the ends of sentences to find it again. When I had a chance to read and do nothing else I was able to get into the swing of things and let myself be immersed in this but even that takes a while to settle into. unfortunate:( I'd still recommend this to the right type of person but you have to have a particular tolerance for multi-page sentences to handle this book I fear.

this was aggressive, brutal, and very dark. a difficult but transparent look at the depraved and haunting reality that exists amidst the violence of poverty, marginalization, and trauma. not for the faint of heart.

I read this with an air of disgust that naturally comes when reading on the violence that men deal to women, due to their hatred of women and inferiority complexes.
