Freaking fantastic! One of the best and most unique fantasy stories I've read. Considering the subject was pretty miserable and grim, it was hilarious. I'm not sure how the author did it but it was a perfect combination!

It feels like a DnD campaign committed to novel form. Very basic narrative, characters are flat, energy should come from the plot but there’s not enough tension to keep it exciting .

Amazing, hilarious, love it.

There’s two reasons I can’t give it a five star rating. Firstly, I didn’t feel quite as immersed as I could’ve and I think the world building could use a little work. Second, and this is purely subjective, I didn’t really connect with any of the main characters. They were great and I cared about them, but I didn’t connect.

Edit: prose wasn’t fantastic either

I loved this book! It was charming, and heartwarming - not words I often use to describe fantasy novels.

This book has quite a comedic tone - something I didn't expect going in. In general, there's a good balance of serious moments and lighthearted ones. I loved our characters, I really rooted for them. Clay makes an excellent protagonist - how can someone be so straightforward yet complex at the same time?

Not only were the characters wonderful, the world was already rich. It was very reminiscent of D&D. Essentially every creature you can think of exists within this world. It allowed for really entertaining stories.

Honestly, my only criticism of this book is that we only get 1 with this Band! I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys classic fantasy, and fantasy RPGs. This makes a great read in between heavier novels.
