This felt a lot like the first Avengers movie, but if I had never seen or heard of any of the characters beforehand. The concept is interesting, but the actual implementation was bad. There were never any consequences for the heroes or points where I thought they might actually fail.

Huge forest full of monsters that might take months to cross? Here's a convenient sky ship.

Hired assassin on your tail? Have a concussion that turns her into an ally.

Incurable disease that will kill your wizard? Run into the only friendly monster that happens to cure it instantly.

Lose a hand? Don't worry, an old buddy can grow it back for you in the next chapter.

There are brief glimpses into interesting conflicts, such as how the monsters are now bred for fighting and non humans are treated poorly, but that's all they are; tiny glimpses into an actually interesting story.

Honestly, I would have been way more interested in the story of the "villain". He's the only character that has any depth to him.

Lacks quality pacing, lacking atmosphere, lacking in good characters, or dialogue. It feels like someone was watching Expendables while doing a DnD homebrew.

Who ever said it's like Terry Pratchett combined with GRRM was lying or is completely depraved

Excellent. Just a fun no bullshit adventure fantasy. It was incredibly entertaining to read, very funny at times, and a straight forward story. At moments it felt like reading a story from Dimension 20 playing a D&D campaign. I can't recommend this book enough.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had this much fun reading a book.

This is a story of a group of old friends going into a new last adventure in the spirit of dungeon and dragons and with a vibe of an ancient rock band getting back together for the last world tour. I wish it had stronger emphasis on relationship between them, but there is more action, even though I had a feeling that it took the book some time pick up the pace.
