Really heartwarming and charming. Funny and witty and fun. It was a very enjoyable read / actually listen since I did the audio…my only comment would be that 18 hours felt quite long for what the story is….the end felt rushed - but I understand it was meant to be about the journey not the accomplishment itself.

What if Fear and Hunger didn’t have a depressive ending mixed with essentially an 80s rock bang getting back together for a final tour and that’s essentially what Kings of the Wyld was. I didn’t have much expectations for this and I was pleasantly surprised. I will say however, because it’s inspired by traditional dnd elements, some of its elements of racism and sexism with the way women and other races are written here really do come through at times. Now is it as bad as it was before? Definitely not, but it is still in the backlog for those who are wary of that sort of thing.

For me personally, knowing that it’s from the perspective of middle aged men, it made sense so it wasn’t the worst offender for me personally but still enough to dock off a star. I am excited to read Bloody Rose once I get the chance but overall a solid enjoyable read.

If I’m being honest I wasn’t expecting much, but damn this turned out to be a fun read.

The best short way I can describe this book would be a fantasy version of the movie Red. Every single character in this book was a joy to get to know. The band was filled with some of my favorite characters ever. If you don't fall in love with Clay and Gabe and Ganalon and Moog, well, frankly, you're crazy. Even the bad guys were great in their own way. And fleshed out and damaged enough that you could almost feel bad for them in some way. Except for Calaric (sp?), That guy was a douche canoe.

Do yourself a favor and read this book. Unless of course you are allergic to fun, then stay away, you will have allergy fits for days.

Big shout out to Petrik. Thank you my friend for the rec. It was a joy to read/listen to.

Don't know why this wasn't ashtray on my read shelf. Anyway, it was a fun romp! Thanks to my boy Petrik for recommending it years ago
