I really enjoyed the duet narration for this; Hannah Hedley was so good as the detached Viola whose latest job is effecting her in more ways than one. Likewise with Lucas Webley;  he really brought out that predatory side of Lorcan in his performance.  I'm not sure which character was speaking in the prologue but his performance gave me chills!

I felt truly sad for Aurora when her POV's started knowing how it all ends; teenagers are AWFUL.  This is a reverse age gap with the FMC being 23 and there is more than one comment about how immature they all are but these people have all had to grow up fast.  I have read this before and would say I did forget how young the MMCs were which was down to the narration however it is perfect for a character like Lorcan. There are some pretty heavy themes which are touched on with all the characters being on the darker side of morally grey but we haven't met a lot of the big bads yet.  I'm hoping for more of Dante though in the next book as I enjoyed his ambiguous dynamic with Viola.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Five, my head is in a dark place, stars.

I wished, and my wish came true. A full-length version of the novella I fell in love with, On my dark scale, it's dark gray with a touch of black—one part of the book where I was a little weak in my knees, which never happens. Mallory Fox sharpened her writing skills and delivered a masterpiece.

Viola is a well-trained assassin undercover at a prestigious high school to find her Target. What she discovers is something completely different. And starts to doubt her mission. Viola is a sociopath who is ultimately off her rocker, and don’t call her crazy. She doesn’t like it and will show you crazy. She is brutal and really the hero of the book. Don’t underestimate her.

So many secrets and twists. There is so much going on in the background, but it is far from overwhelming. In this version, we read more in detail about a story and several POVs. Let me tell you. I thought I was ready. I was not at all and I was shocked. That ending HOLY COW!!!!! What a twist. For am my dark romance readers and RH, this is a must-read.

If you’re looking for a book that makes you question wtf is happening, who is who, how this FMC became an assassin, how she hasn’t died yet, why she’s sucking off these HS boys who would definitely be casted by 30yo men of this was a movie, then this might be for you.

The story had huge potential and just flopped for me. FMC is annoying to me because she hates these kids (yes they are 17-18yo kids). It’s labeled as a Why Choose but that’s a stretch.

Also, Vera gets found out half way through the book but still chooses to go to class at this high school?!

And the epilogue pissed me off.

There are more questions than answers and I’m not drawn to read/listen to the rest of the series at this time.

This audiobook is dark with its intriguing storyline full of plot twists and turns, a slow burn with a slight age gap, a steamy scenes, with elements of mystery and a dark tone with a well motivated FMC that will make you the reader think about how much of a bad-a$$ heroine she really is.

👄VIOLA
V (or whatever alias that’s fitting) is a hardcore psychopath. In her early 20s and clearly messed up and is seemingly running from someone.
For this girl killing and sex are synonymous in her life….it seems calms her. (Somewhat) but She’s also tough and lacks empathy or emotions…which she tries to hide so she can fool anyone looking.
she sliced off a child rapist’s dick and balls with her knife and didn’t even blinked!

As V infiltrated a school that’s for Mafia children, or anyone in the crime world.
Her target, Lorcan (Duke)…said to have brutally raped and killed a girl…However, as she stalks him, secrets are uncovered. It turns out, nothing is as it seems… the guys are victims too…

💋LORCAN
is the quiet and broody alpha. The energy between these two is fire – not only can you taste the sexual tension, he’s the only man that she’s slept with in as long as she can remember (slept with, as in actual sleeping)

💋DINO
is the fun one, incessantly flirting and making innuendos. With a nickname like Sinner, you wonder what he hides between those smiles.

💋JUDE
He hides his true self behind drugs and booze – he’s got a penchant for violence, a darkness which speaks to V. They connect through that although, he doesn’t trust her (and most of the time doesn’t seem like her.)

💋DANTE
V mentor who works for the same person.
He is the one who taught V everything..almost.. everything she knows.
While they have some sort of trust, she keeps her distance from everyone (except her off and on only human display of emotion of a hook up with Quinn, a tech savvy genius.)

But….As V is given an assignment she set to work infiltrating a school that’s for Mafia children, or anyone in the crime world.
With a target, Lorcan (Duke)…who is said to have brutally raped and killed a girl…V began to monitor him, secrets began to emerge, and it would turns out, nothing is as it seems… somethings just aren’t adding up …the guys….. well. They’re beginning to look like victims too- but with this revelation more is revealed and V is realizing she can’t trust no one especially the one she thought had her back. Dante.

💋IN THE END THEY ALL BEG💋

✨VIOLENT,BLOODY,AND RAW.✨

💋BECAUSE IM THE REAL MONSTER.
AND THEY JUST DON’T KNOW IT YET 💋

Book #1 A Violent Agenda series

I really liked that the FMC is strong and independent not weak damsel in distress. Her relationship and chemistry with the guys was fire.

Dark and twisty romance.

I want to start off and say make sure to check trigger warnings before you give this book a listen.
Dark, right from the start it was dark and didn’t get any lighter…it was such a good listen! The MFC was strong and independent. The storyline is strong and makes you want to keep listening. The narrators for this book were wonderful and make the book come alive. Can’t wait to listen to the next book!

This book was amazing! It has hot, it was twisted, Dark, bloody, and just all the way around WOW. I love this author and how she made this book so dark. I can't wait for the next one, my mind is blown!

This is one hell of a way to kick off a series and I am now absolutely obsessed. This is definitely going to be a series that I be won’t forgetting anytime soon.

I am in total awe of how fierce Viola is. She is a kickass assassin who doesn’t back down from anyone but as the story progresses bits of her past start to unravel and you definitely see some vulnerability in her. I am interested to learn more about her father and childhood.

The chemistry between Viola and the guys was out of this world. I am so glad that this is going to be a reverse harem because I definitely cannot choose between them whatsoever. Also I really want to see more of Dante because he is so intriguing.

A History of Violence was definitely the dark, twisted, intense and panty drenching realness that I needed in my life.

I recieved an advanced copy for free, and this is my honest opinion.
