Wow! This was truly epic fantasy. I'll admit, I struggled a little bit in the beginning with the very slow pace but I was quickly absorbed by the atmosphere of the story and world (the vibes were immaculate). There were huge scale epic magic battles, demons, dragons, ancient evils, a war between gods and assassin wars. What more could you want?

Yep its challenging for sure but worth it. This world is incredible, one of the greatest works of imagination in the fantasy genre. There is SO MUCH going on here but NONE of it feels tacky or dumb. The writing style didn't have as much description as I like unfortunately which is my only problem with this book. Characters were solid but Kruppe and Rake were the only ones I REALLY liked. But apparently this series just gets continually better so I'll stick with it.

Not an easy read.

The novel had so many characters and so much going on it's often difficult to follow the plot. However, it keeps you interested just enough to move on to book two.
