I was positively surprised about the book. I thought it was much more politcally than it is.

Not for those looking for a typical Grisham thriller but a good, quick read nonetheless.

This was a dependable Grisham novel. A few of his novels have kept me up reading until 2 a.m., this wasn't one, at least not for me. It did capture my attention, though. I had mixed feels about the ending.

The last Grisham book I read was The Client, which was far better than this one, The Broker. At the end of The Client, I felt as if I knew the main character intrinsically, and was full-heartedly routing for him. Not so with this one. Perhaps because the client was first-person, this was third-person. In this book, the main character was a rich man, and in The Client it was a young, poor, and innocent child.

Either way, if you enjoy Grisham books, I'd keep this on your list, but not at the top. :)

A review here says that this book is an in-flight soporific entertainment and I cannot find better words to sum up than this.

"The plot revolves round a once lawyer cum broker, who is imprisoned for about six years. The FBI wants to set him free & to look for his predators to find a solution for a military operation. So, the outgoing American President is literally pushed to grant his freedom.
Suddenly after the freedom, the broker is forced to live in an entirely new atmosphere. To accustom in his new environment , he is forced to learn the foreign language completely & thoroughly. Then at certain point of time, he realizes that he has been used as a prey. So he escapes from both his enemies." (From Amazon)

There was too much going on with the plot that it fell flat.
