I am beginning to think maybe I overread and don’t actually care about some of the books I’m taking cracks at and I plan to slow it down in the new year.

This book was ok. I was expecting more stabbing and death. I guess that’s what you get when you read a lot of kristoff high death expectations

the fact that the two main characters in this book were REAL??? and were exactly as badass as the main characters in this book made me love it even more

Rollercoaster of emotions, action, love, friendship, and total bad assery with two incredible queer women leads all set in a lavish aristocratic world. These valiant ladies see some bad stuff, do some bad stuff, and end all the bad stuff.
They are feminists, they are queer, and they are amazing. Thank you for the ending full of happiness and closure!

I’m all for badass sword wielding ladies but this seemed a bit underdeveloped
The setting was great, and the imagery was top notch. I can see the orange orchards stretching out and the atmospheric vibes are *chefs kiss*
The main characters POV were so similar that it may as well have been one perspective. The switch never felt flawless and I found myself having to recheck who’s head I was in. I wish they had more differing voices
There was some heavy handholding in few places (sections like this to clarify the characters thoughts) which was unnecessary.
Also instances where time passed weird. You get in a carriage, exchange a couple lines of dialogue and are there. Just walk?
