You've done it again George RR Martin!
A Storm of Swords pt.1 is definitely my favourite book of the series so far, this whole book was fantastic, I couldn't put it down and I'm so glad I enjoyed it just that little bit more than A Clash of Kings!
It's getting to the point in the series now where I can start to see some of the many differences between the books and the tv show. I thought it would be kind of hard to figure out what was going on because of this but it isn't at all, George RR Martin has done such a good job of describing literally everything that I never feel myself getting lost along the way.
I'm so glad to finally have had so many Jon and Ygritte chapters because she's my all time favourite character (if anyone's read the series or seen the show, you will know why I'm utterly terrified for the next one in the series), and also I cant wait to find out more about the Martell family as I find Dorne ridiculously interesting.
As this next book will eventually go past the point where the tv show is at the moment, all I can hope for is to see more of Highgarden and more Loras and Margaery please!! (also more of Arya being a badass because who doesn't love that.)
I'm seriously obsessed with this book and I now have even higher expectations for the rest of the series!

Another solid installment from GoT. I'm looking forward to starting the next book which I haven't read before.
Have to say I've definitely enjoyed these books more the second time round and probably read them quicker than before.

A re-read for me and I loved it once again! Very much a less action and more set up than some of the other books but I love the writing style, adore the characters and enjoyed the story. Looking forward to re-reading the others.

This read very much like a first part, and I hope the second part really picks up the pace again. There are a lot of things set up and a lot of tension brewing that has the potential for an explosive ending like in A Clash of Kings. Most of the chapters of each respective POV were repetitive at their core, with once again a lot of travelling (mostly Jaime and Arya, also Bran), mourning (Catelyn) and general weirdness (Bran. I don't want to read anymore of him being a direwolf and eating deer, please). That being said, Daenarys and Sansa's chapters were my favorites. Everything that happened beyond the Wall with Jon and Samwell was exciting to read as well. Other things I enjoyed were meeting the Tyrells (I love Margaery omg) and the Dornish, the brotherhood of Dondarrion, and the Jaime/Brienne banter.
I've read a lot of this while listening along to the audiobook, which definitely elevated the experience. The narrator uses very distinct voices for the different characters, even though some accents are pretty hard to understand, but it's a lot of fun.
