So I hold this gorgeous book in my hand and a cup of strong coffee in another, and after six straight hours of going through immense mind churning plots, I am left with a huge blank where my heart should be. Too many bloodsheds in a book that spans for less than 600 pages, not to speak of all the twists and turns.
I cannot justify those 4 stars but am sure I wont be giving this one a 5 star even if the tales relating Tyrion Lannister were aplenty. Until next time till I finish the rest.

A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow (A Song of Ice and Fire #3a): 5/5  Reviewed: 6/29/22
By: George R.R. Martin

Somehow, as great as the masterpieces before it were, A Storm of Swords Part 1 is my favorite novel in the series thus far. Once again I was sucked into the politics of Westeros and the ever-tense drama set in the deep world, complemented by characters I love and intensity not filled by action spectacles.
Jamie is the first character’s perspective we follow after the prologue, and he has easily become one of my favorite characters despite being one of the more morally skewed. After learning a little bit about who he is and the true story behind the mocking nickname “Kingslayer,” I’ve gained a newfound appreciation for him, and it’s the true greyness of every character that has allowed me to fall in love with the series.
The reader is also introduced to the Wildings properly through the eyes of Jon Snow, and it’s difficult not to come to like the Freefolk as Jon grudgingly becomes somewhat integrated into their culture. On the other hand, The Night’s Watch, which is perceived as good in the first two installments, quickly reminds you of who the supposedly honorable rangers used to be.
Steel and Snow touched my emotions plenty too, as I was so involved in the plot and the characters that I had my own feelings about each situation. Whether that be anger at the mistreatment of everyone’s favorite dwarf, pity for various characters, or disgust at the horrors of war, I felt for characters because they’re so complex that they feel like real people. Oftentimes in other works, I find it hard to sympathize with characters because the author is trying too hard to make me feel for them, or the characters that are supposedly deep are really one-dimensional and I can’t relate to them enough to care. Steel and Snow is different, and Martin has proved again that as far as drama goes, he’s perfected it.
Once you reach a certain level of mastery, the only direction for the quality of your books to go is down, but Martin has somehow avoided this and created a series that is obviously written with passion, care, and countless hours of looking over notes. Even if the second part of A Storm of Swords is marginally nferior to the first half, it will still be a great novel.

It's taken me 8 years to pick up this book and the red wedding wasn't even in this section!

I just love these books so much. I think it's rare to find fantasy novels ehich are this good. And I think it's great how my favorite characters change from time to time. Like in this part i started to like Jaime a lot, even though he's not a character I'd like to like.

This was a fantastic novel, and perhaps my favourite in the series so far. We get such a rich and raw storyline, with death around every corner and more blood and betrayals than the previous 2 novels. All the characters are so fantastically written and developed, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

“Why ask for truth when you close your ears to it?

4,5/5 stars. An awesome book, naturally. I did not give it 5 stars because there were only 3 chapters about my favorite character, Khaleesi (the book is 570 pages long lmao).
