An engaging time travel novel

3,5

Time travel books are always tough. I’m not good with remembering people in books. Let alone people from different time periods. But overall it was an interesting book. Some characters were a bit too flat for my opinion so I couldn't really connect with them. They weren't in the book for more than 10 pages I think, but somehow played a key part in the ending of the book and I was lost. I couldn't distinguish which time period version it was and who they were exactly... But towards the end everything came together and was built up nicely.

The whole premise of time travel and all the different rules and laws they installed were fascinating! the author really put a lot of time towards the world building. The use of time travel and its laws were also very refreshing and interesting to read!

I'm a sucker for time travel books and love when every author's different twist on the physics. This isn't a book for anyone hoping for technical jargon and overly scientific explanations, though--it's more about how time travel affects the mind and spirit. Very enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book for the ideas as much as the characters. I connected with the three main characters but the side plot with the doctor while important seemed like an unnecessary perspective. It was a fascinating look at how time travel reinforced its own bad ideas and culture but I think it could have looked at race and gender more especially considering the time frame given.

Great cover, great book, and yes it did remind me of The Power. Get this one on your list.

Imo the best time travel stories are about grief, and this does an excellent job of that. Loved the exploration of legal ramifications for time travel and how frequent travelers' attitudes towards death would change. Would recommend for fans of literary fiction and Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.
