I’ve read worse sequels. A ringing endorsement, right?
There were elements in this book that were better than the first. I was waaaay more upset for the character that dies in this book than I ever was for Rue in the hunger games. The action was still awesome. Oooh! And we got another female character.
But then the other stuff? Well… for starters a third of the last book was about the fact they only found two eggs. And then at the start of this one they had all three?! I’ve just never read a plot whole so massive.
And while I was excited about the new girl character, Storm was completely ruined!! In danger she just froze. Every time! I wanted to scream at her.
Overall, this wasn’t a well written book. But I can overlook A LOT for good action. And I still want to read the finale so that’s good, right?

A good 2nd book of the series but tstarted off very slow and had no idea to the adventure it would turn to and lead into the 3rd book. The ending left me in shock and wanted to pick up the 3rd one straight away

omg i loved this! such a good continuation from the first book and really fun. action packed yet again, but no repetition of events. there were a few twists i didn't see coming and i loved seeing relationships develop here too. the ending really surprised me and i'm actually buzzing for the last book because of it!

It would have been a three but the last chapters were so gripping and the ending was amazing! I really want to read Rebel now!
Such a fun and entertaining read! This is the kind of series that keeps you at the edge of your seat, but at the same time you just want to explore even more of the world! The only downside to this was that the start of the book was kind of slow, but the second half picked up quickly. Some of my questions were answered but I do have others now which I'm hoping the final installment will answer.

In this second instalment of 'The Extinction Trials', Storm and Lincoln have to go back to Piloria, the infamous continent inhabited by dinosaurs, for a new mission. Alongside one other ex-team member, two others join unexpectatly. Will Storm and Lincoln complete their mission, will they find a cure for the blistering plague and will they make it back to Earthasia alive?
I am definitely continuing this series because of one reason... DINOSAURS! However, this second book in the trilogy kind of was a letdown. I liked the general idea of the plot, but it took nearly half the book to get back to the dinosaur continent and the scenes with these creatures were a bit lacking excitement. In the acknowledgements, the writer explained that she has no planning when writing a book and this can be easily seen. The scenes in the book truly felt unplanned and very unexpected. They lacked excitement and thrill. However, I did absolutely love the complicated father-daughter trope and thought that this was developed well.
