I listened to the audiobook version of this. I’m not sure I would’ve liked it as much had it not been read by the author. She’s had a crazy journey!

This is not the hilarious Tig we know and love. This is her raw and emotional telling of tragedy and trauma compacted into a year of her life.

Funny on difficult sensitive matters without being gauche; poignant and touching with zero sap. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll do both at once.

The companion novel to One Mississippi

This book was amazing. As someone who has lived through several of the same life events as Tig, I resonated deeply with much of this book. Tig's storytelling style is wonderfully raw and honest. A great read for anyone who has been through cancer or anyone with a friend who has.

It is true that if you watched the documentary about Tig, you probably know the basics of her most difficult few years of her life. And the documentary went into more detail about her meeting her wife and the beginning of their relationship. However, this book goes into more details about how Tig was feeling through all of it. Is it laugh out loud funny for the entire book? No. But it's honest and sad and captures her emotions in a way that I loved. She does a great job of explaining how she felt during her depression and all of the truly difficult times that the documentary didn't capture. I think it's important to see how hard that stuff truly was and despite that, she made it through to the other side - not unscathed but alive and strong.

I read this whole book cover to cover on a cross-country flight, Tig's characteristic monotone in my head narrating every word. Really enjoyable.
