Bishop joined the NHL expansion team hoping to be captain but that did not happen since his teammate Rook was made captain. So when he saw a lady going into Rook's apartment he assumes his married captain is cheating on his wife. Only to later realize after insulting and basically being an ass, that the lady was Rook's sister, Stevie.

Stevie is a physiotherapist (I think) and she seems to have lived all her life in the shadow of her brother, so when her asshole boyfriend cheats on her, she is hurt to accept her brothers help. She decides to live in his NHL offered apartment until she is ready to find a place of her own. That is when she meets Bishop.

I will skip ahead.
Bishop hurt himself during a game and he has to rest until he is fit to play again. Stevie offers to do his PT, as long as he writes her a recommendation. This is when things really heat up between the two. I really enjoyed reading this book

The 2nd book in the All In series features Stevie, the sister of book one's hero, Rook. Now that Rook has brought his wife and son back home to Seattle via the NHL expansion draft, we're settling into a new team and cast of characters. Some old faves have come along for the ride (Alex & Violet Waters), but we're meeting a whole new crew of players and friends too. Among the team is Bishop Winslow who thought he was going to be the new team Captain until Alex brought along his buddy Rook and gave him the job. I like how this book explores being the sibling of a star athlete, and all that comes with that emotionally. Bishop is spicier in temperment where Rook was sweet, so I liked the resulting banter and friction (if you will) of him and Stevie. Overall I would rate this one slightly higher than book one, and the audio is fantastic. Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan are two of my faves, and they make this story sing.

🚨 This is not a review. It’s a list of plot events to help me remember the story. Spoilers abound! 🚨

🌶️🌶️ 1/2

Tropes:
  • Hockey Romance
  • Enemies to Lovers
  • Forced Proximity
  • Grump vs Sunshine
  • Interconnected Standalone
  • Neighbors
  • Third Act Breakup
  • Funny Banter
  • Audiobook (Jacob Morgan and Erin Mallon)

  • Stevie: Feisty; sharp-witted; caught boyfriend cheating on her and had to find a new place to live; physiotherapist; brother is famous NHL player and she moves into his apartment; thinks Bishop is a manwhore
  • Bishop: Grumpy; judgemental; across the hall neighbor; enemies with brother; thinks Stevie is his side piece; lives with his brother, who has diabetes
  • Bishop gets hurt and him and Stevie strike a deal - She will help him with physio to get him back on the field sooner and she'll get to say she's rehabbed an NFL player
  • Now they are around each other all the time and start to become friendly; Stevie learns that his brother is the manwhore, who also has diabetes (and doesn't take care of himself) and that Bishop takes care of him financially
  •  Very enemies to lovers with a sloooww burn and crazy sexual tension (he walks around in his silly underwear and she walks around in tight yoga shorts and sports bra to get back at him)
  • She keeps extra insulin at her house in case Tyler can't find his and takes care of him when Bishop isn't around
  • He intimidates the F out of Joey when he tries to talk to/get back with Stevie

“My jerkwad neighbor is well endowed. Not in a terrifying “Do you shoot porn?” kind of way but more of a “That would be a welcome stretch.”

“Everyone has a demon or two, Stevie. You just gotta learn how to live with them and find other people who think all your good parts outweigh the bad.”

“You’re being weird. And not like pineapples-and-olives-on-pizza weird.”

“He’s more persistent than a case of crabs in a rent-by-the-hour motel.”

Dicken Balls 😹 (Bishop's cat!)

"I need you to stop touching me!”
“Why are you yelling at me?” she shouts back.
“Because you’re half-undressed in my tub,and I’m a guy, and apparently my dick is a fucking sadist. It honestly feels like my balls are on fire right now. A semi has literally never been this painful.”
“Well, close your damn eyes and think about dead things.”

Bishop is a lot of things: sarcastic, assholey, determined, hotheaded, and a mammoth of a man. But his kiss is all the other parts of him I've gotten glimpses of over the past several weeks: sweet, gentle, soft.

I listened to it because of the voice actor but honestly it was pretty good. The banter was nice and love the vibes

bit meh, kinda made me cringe towards the end especially with the ‘shippy’ and ‘bae’ just couldn’t hack those nicknames
