It made for a hilarious, engaging, and deeply moving read! 10/10 would recommend! Anyone who loves Trevor and his work is bound to enjoy this one too :)

I thought Trevor Noah's memoir would be a light and funny read to close out the year. And yes, it was an easy read with moments of humor and levity, but Born a Crime is thought provoking, wise, and warm. I knew little about Noah before beginning this book except for the hilarious clips from The Daily Show I've watched on YouTube, and I was taken aback to learn of the extraordinary difficulties of poverty, racism, and abuse he faced in childhood. Yet despite these challenges, Noah's memoir veers far away from any tone of cynicism or victimhood. Noah is courageous and real. And he loves his mother. So much. This book is as much a story of his childhood as it is a tribute to the love and strength she bestowed upon him. Born a Crime is beautiful and highly recommended.

3 stars because the swearing is so prolific and totally unnecessary. I mean, does he not know how to express himself in another way? I was laughing and many of the stories and I enjoyed the peak into life in South Africa. I don't agree politically with some of his conclusions but enjoyed learning more.
