Oh my god ... there is basically no part of this book I could have predicted. I laughed I cried. He's extremely good at using humour to elevate the emotion rather than downplay it. I haven't seen much of his work but this was a fantastic book!

Fascinating book by a great storyteller. A funny, heart wrenching picture of life in South Africa during and after apartheid. Definitely recommended.
usually i like to listen to audiobooks for memoirs but don't think the library had an audiobook version but i was able to read thru this which says a lot about how interesting/engaging it was bc i rly struggle ot read non-fiction haha. i started listening to his podcast in the past year or so, so it was nice to get to know more about his background/early life and he's such a funny person/character that i could rly hear his voice throughout his whole book
