LOVE! Read this series after seeing it on Emma Watson's book list. Strong female lead. Easy to get caught up! I've already reread the series.

This was an enjoyable fantasy book with a strong plot and strong characters. Especially the members of the Queen's guard were all very interesting characters to me. I also found the story to be quite refreshing. The background story about the Crossing could have been a tad more developed, but I'm sure we will get there in the next books. There was hardly any romance at all in this book, but actually, I totally didn't mind. Although some more of it in the sequels wouldn't be bad. I'm excited for book 2!

The reviews for this were all over the place, but I'm glad I took a chance. Though this takes place in the future it's a society that has basically reverted back to Medieval Times. The discussion of modern medicine and authors that occasionally takes place is jarring. Overall interesting characters and great world building kept me entertained.

Boy, was this slow to start. It took me quite awhile to read this book, mostly because the story wasn't grabbing me. Once I got through the first part, however, the story picked up and I ended up enjoying it. The characters are a big shallowly drawn, but the world is interesting. I would read the second one. I give it 3 stars due to the slow start.

Enjoyed the reading. I could not stop reading. I love the characters.

Loved the setting... a beautiful coming of age story. Can't wait for the next two books.
