I love angsty romance with emotional depth, and this book hit on every level for me.

This book is a slow-burn, dual-pov, dual-timeline story that focuses heavily on the writing process and the emotional headspace of both protagonists. It reads like a cross between upmarket commercial fiction and romance, which is, I think, the sweet spot for me. The writing is just superb, as it should be but often isn’t in books about writers writing. (It’s hard to believe that a character is an accomplished author when the actual book is subpar.)

I’m a massive fan of epistolary romances - be it letter, text, or email - and this twist on the trope is just so good, the idea that they were writing their feelings for one another into the book. I also thought that the subject matter for the book they were writing was just perfect - what better way to exorcise your romantic demons than writing a book about divorce with the person you’ve been estranged from for the past four years?

Fair warning, this book does delve into the murky, gray waters of what constitutes an emotional affair - that line between friendship and something deeper. The intense intimacy of someone who gets you on a fundamental level, even if the chemistry takes a bit to catch up.

This is going on my favorites list. It will be re-read. I will listen to the audiobook, and devour anything else these two authors write.

So good.

4.5
Loved it so much. There was so much angst and I love myself an angst romance. Up until 90% it was a five star read but the ending just really didn’t do it.

I love and collect books that have anything to do with books and was extremely delighted I received this book with Once Upon A Book March Bookbox.

This was quite enjoyable for me to read. Told by two pics, Nathan and Catrina, who wrote a bestselling romance novel 4 years ago together and haven’t spoken to each other since. Media rumors suspected that had an affair together that ended badly, but it wasn’t until much later we find out the entire truth.

The characters banter was perfect and realistic. Fast read, funny, and charming perfect for all bookworms who enjoy an enemies to lover trope.

I guess I forgot to review this so here we go. This book wasn’t bad, I just felt like not much was happening and I didn’t connect with either of the characters. With that being said I really liked the plot of this book and thought overall it was cute.
