When I finished this book, I immediately wanted to read it again. I think this book suffers from comparisons to Emily Henry. The style, prose and tone are very different from Henry so if you go in expecting book lovers or beach read 2.0, you’ll be disappointed. Taken on it’s own, this book is heartbreaking and beautiful. I had to refrain from highlighting every line. If you’re looking for romantic angst, this book is that at its finest.
Loved it. It was so well written I couldn’t put it down. I usually find myself skipping entire paragraphs to rush forward with the story but I don’t think I skipped a single word of this novel. Gorgeous.

I bought this book simply because the cover was cute, so I had very low expectations when I started reading it, and I actually ended up really enjoying it! This book is very proper. Like I felt like I was better than everyone while I was reading it. I can’t explain why other than it just was giving upper class for some reason. Is this what it’s like to read books that aren’t smut?? I’m not going to make it a habit, bc it will go straight to my head.
Anyways. When the book started I was like ok wow you guys hate each other, are you ever gonna talk about it?? But then I ended up loving the amount of conflict. Like I was 80% done and things still weren’t solved and I was living for it. There was so much pining that the characters tried to pretend was anything other than longing. And idk man, even though I prefer my books written for us middle class folk, I liked this a lot. Would I read again? Idk. Did I have fun while reading? Yes. Do I think you would like it? Probably. But if you read it and hate it don’t blame me

This didn’t quite work for me as a romance, but as a love story and publishing story, it was lovely. Wish I could read the book inside the book - feeling like that one would be more my speed in many ways. A worthwhile comp for fans of BEACH READ.
