It’s been about two months since I’ve read this and my memory of it is pretty vague which means it can’t be 5 stars. But I remember it being sweet, fun, creative, and really well written! I’ve always been a sucker for stories with 2 timelines and this book did that really well! Nothing negative to say, but also nothing exceptionally positive. Recommend to fans of Beach Read!

I really enjoyed parts of this book, but overall it wasn’t my favorite! I was torn between giving this 3 vs 4 stars because really it’s a 3.5 for me. I can respect a slow burn or denied feelings, yet they aren’t tropes that I gravitate towards. But they were relatively decent characters & this was well written!

Where do I even begin with this one. I know a couple of years ago, this book was everywhere on BookTok and Bookstagram and naturally, I added it to my TBR where it sat collecting dust until recently. Story of my life. I’m not sure if it’s because I was coming of the author’s second release that made me realize I wasn’t a fan of this book, or it was just the book in general.
The flashbacks to four years ago didn’t add much context for me and I would have rather see the couple in the present timeline. The story itself felt very one pace the entire time, that even when things were progressing, it didn’t feel like it. It was a lot of back and forth of the same things between Katrina and Nathan, that I started to enjoy our secondary characters more. The resolution was shoved into the last couple of chapters, hitting us all at once and then ended which I don’t think did the characters or the story justice. My other biggest gripe was that we don’t find out why they aren’t co-authors until 70-80% mark which is successful in other books, but I don’t think was successful here since they danced around it for so long with secondary characters it just got annoying, and didn’t end up being a reveal worth the build up.
I really wanted to like this one since I loved the premise but in the end, it fell short me.
I received an ARC of this book from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review.
THREE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!! 6.86 CAWPILE
There is nothing special about this book. Nothing that makes it stand out from others within the same genre and plot line. I have stated before that I am not the biggest fan of jumping from past and present (unless it is done well). I don't believe this was done well. Idk I have really mixed feelings about this book.
I loved the style of writing, how easy it was to follow and the overall light-hearted feeling of this book. I disliked how blah the characters felt. I didn't feel any kind of emotional connection to them and I honestly wasn't interested in their story or how it would play out.
Regardless of my lowish rating I still enjoyed the book and the style of writing is what is going to get me to pick up another book by this duo. (:

I really enjoyed the concept of this novel! Having two writers that need to complete their contract even if they no longer liked each other and then some sparks start to fly. It did seem a tad slow to me at times in the later portions of the beginning and the middle. Other than that, the characters are so likable and I want to visit this house that they are in while writing! It seems so charming, and huge too. The lineup of events went well. Wish the most action packed parts weren’t in the last 70-100 pages, but I’m also okay with the novel as is!
4/5 stars for a quick and fun writing centered read with some flashbacks and sparks a flying!

Angsty and complex, but ultimately satisfying. This is very much a slow burn, both as a romance and drama; the mystery of their past unfolding slowly as they resolve their relationship in the present.
The characters didn’t speak to me as much as I expected, but still a very solid read that delves into heavy topics like cheating, divorce, and coming to terms with your past.
