I did not read the previous book of this series, so this review will only be about this book. It did well as a standalone but there were a few times I think more details would have helped. This review will contain spoilers, mostly involving what didn't work for me.

What I liked:
Well written
Interesting story
Jake's character development

What I didn't like:
Everyone treated Jake like he was some horrible person who wasn't allowed to change. How can you want someone to change, but not accept when it happens?
Char. I really hope I'm not being hard on the heroine but she and Jake have a not-so-great history. I felt like she put a lot of things on Jake without taking much responsibility for herself. She chose to get drunk the night before she worked in the morning, so her embarrassment at falling off of her chair on camera is on her. Yes, Jake was a jerk, but he doesn't deserve all of the blame.
Grandma was a bit much. Some of what she did was not funny, but I could tell it was supposed to be funny. Her behavior was humiliating and manipulative. This is where the spoiler comes so stop reading now. Who stages for two people to get married without their knowledge or consent? It really cheated Char out of a wedding with the people she loves present. Jake's people were there because the setting was his brother's wedding. Some of the things she had Char and Jake doing were way to over the top and humiliating. She sent them to the pharmacy to get a "gift." She ordered extra small condoms on Jake's name. What was the purpose other than humiliation? It's not a prank war; no one ever tries to get Grandma back.

The Premise
The second book in this series, the story is not a cliffhanger but it does continue the story of the Bet. Kacey and Travis, the H/h of the first book, are getting married and the family is all getting together for the festivities. This gives Jake and Travis’ grandmother a chance to continue her matchmaking ways. The leads in this story, Char and Jake, have a complicated history. Kacey is best friends with Jake and Char, but Jake and Char have gotten on like oil and water since they were kids. They had a one night stand once upon a time, which Jake feels guilty for and Char just wants to kill him for. Jake has spent a lifetime living down to people’s expectations and Char has spent that same lifetime calling him on it.

The Good
Jake is a hero in transition, wanting to be a better man, but having trouble figuring out how to do that. His attraction and love for Char really goes a long way in redeeming him from the jerk he was in the first book. I was surprised how much I liked him and his love scenes with Char are very sweet and elevate this book. This book also benefits from the fact that you feel as if you know these characters better than the first.

The Not so Great-ish
It’s still a fluffy bit of fiction and the characters can come across as a bit immature, and the “to do list” that Grandma gives Jake and Char is very ridiculous.

The Bottom Line
Surprisingly touching at times, very silly the rest of the time, I actually enjoyed this book much more than the first one.

I laughed so much! Once again, I'm not disappointed. :)

My favorite character in this series is Grandma. That lady is amazingly feisty and so crazy that I had to laugh out loud while reading. And it feels so great!

The dialogues are perfect, fast paced, fun, sexy and also swoon worthy, the plot is well built and is thrilling, the characters have an addictive personality and the writing style is flawless.

If you're looking for a fun read, buy and read this series. You won't be disappointed!
