Firstly, I would like to say thank you to  NetGalley And Cale for allowing me the opportunity to read an arc of your upcoming book in exchange for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I felt like the story was well thought out. I felt the characters had a great connection and you can just kind of feel that through the writing. I would’ve really liked more in the beginning. I felt like the beginning didn’t have as much details as I feel like it could’ve, I also feel like the ending was a little bit more rushed but overall the book was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt like it’s such a great book to have especially as a book for the YA audience. As well as the LGBTQ+ members. As somebody from the LGBTQ plus community myself, I felt like this book was just really important especially for kids or teenagers who do fill out of place, who do feel like the society norms and having to do what your parents want is more important.
Overall, 4.25 ✨
Would definitely read again and recommend ❤️

Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for a review!

First off, I want to say that I almost DNF'ed this book. I knew nothing about this book going into it other than it was a royalty book a la princess diaries and that it was written by an author I've read before. I truly thought that the main characters were going to be step brothers or cousins. It would be nice if there was like some sort of map or something at the beginning—or possibly like a family tree. There are a lot of characters and it's hard to keep track especially since there are two POVs.

The second reason I almost put the book down is the comment that Erik made about his future-sister-in-law working to prevent type one diabetes. Type one cannot be prevented, that's type two that can be prevented. The only thing you can prevent about type one is some of the damage it can cause to other organs. This is an easily researchable fact and as someone who has family members with type one, it made me slightly uncomfortable to see that kind of misinformation.

I ended up putting those two things aside and ended up finishing the book—and I did not hate it, but I also wasn't a huge fan of it either. It was cute, but nothing more than that. A lot of it felt very shallow a lot of the conflict was resolved very quickly at the end. There was a lot of showing rather than telling, which I'm not opposed to, but that added to the shallowness. Ultimately, I feel like this book was mid. If someone wants a quick and simple read, I might recommend it, but I think it's pretty forgettable overall.

When I had the opportunity to read an e-arc of The Rules of Royalty, I jumped on it because I loved If This Gets Out, and I also enjoyed The Friend Scheme. However, this one, in comparison, felt overly simplistic. The writing style is too straightforward and direct, leaning much more toward telling than showing, and I could barely differentiate between both narrators given that they had little to no defining characteristics or personalities. For those reasons, I couldn’t finish the book. The concept seemed intriguing–I do thoroughly enjoy a good royalty trope–and maybe with some solid editing, the writing will be able to do it justice.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!

I received this ARC from NetGalley courtesy of Wednesday Books and it was so cute. It was almost like a Princess Dairies remake but gay. It was sweet, but I do feel like it ended just when I wanted more. I hope we get a sequel of them!

2.5⭐️ rounded up
This is an unproofed galley, hopefully an early one that I have read.
I am thankful to have gotten the eARC for free from Netgalley and Wednesday Books so I can leave my voluntary and honest review.

Overall, I love the story and I want to see this succeed! The problem is I am unsure if it’ll go through the much needed edit before it is published in December.

Right now it comes off as not only a first draft but one written by an inexperienced writer which is not the case.
That being said, the story is sweet and for a young teen it can be delightful for them to read.. it is a clean romance and if it was just a little bit less in the passion (which doesn’t go beyond kissing) it could be a good book for middle grade readers who are ready for romance.

When the book is ready to be published I intend to reread it and will amend my rating. I will write my specific issues privately to the publisher as they aren’t served here.

One thing that I liked about this book is that while very unrealistic the characters were very well adjusted with fairly healthy relationships with those around them.  While real life doesn’t work like that, it is a work of fiction and can give folks something as a standard to aspire to.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

This book reads very young, the conversation is stilted and kind of cringey. And the events all feel glossed over -- so much telling and not enough showing. I think an actual teenager may enjoy this but it's not for me.

This was a cute, sweet story that felt very much like a Hallmark movie. Don’t think too much about the plot and logistics, just go with the vibes. It’s Princess Diaries meets Young Royals and is definitely written for the younger end of the YA demo.

I love reading YA but this didn’t do it for me. It felt far too simplistic and, for me, the writing just wasn’t there. I doubt I’ll read more of Cale’s books, but I do think teens will like this a lot.

Thanks to netgalley and Wednesday books for sending me the digital arc for review.
