In this volume, we get to know Scott Pilgrim and his friends a little more. We see an episode from his high school days, how he started his first band, and his high school girlfriend. Then, back to the present, where Scott is enjoying his relationship with Ramona and figuring out how to break it off with Knives. He does, but she doesn't take it well. And here, we thought it was only Scott that had to deal with evil exes. Also on tap--a call from another of Scott's ex-girlfriends, wanting their band to open for her more successful band. How will everyone handle this development?
I enjoyed this volume a lot more than the first. The writing was fun and little more in-depth than the first. I felt like I got to know the characters better and it ended on a cliff hanger, but wasn't so disjointed that I was confused. Also, there's Scott and friends' recipe for vegan shepherd's pie and tips on how to prepare it (none of them are vegan, they "just like to be inclusive"). Bonus!

I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first. There's a bit more evidence of some of Ramona's coolness than in the movie, and a lot more of Knives Chau acting insane and sort of downright hurtful instead of just hurtpuppy. Towards the end though the dialogue and scenes sort of fall apart into a bunch of one lines and weird cuts.
May 8, 2015: This was great!! The second book is when a lot of extra stuff happens that wasn't in the movie, and that is super interesting. I enjoyed learning about Scott's backstory. I read the color edition. This is perfect for fans of the movie.
Just as confusing as the first book but I guess I'm here for it
