One of the absolute best books I have read about this very subject.
I'm both a lecturer of nursing and a heavy introvert and so I identified with everything she mentioned in this book.
I am so glad that she choose to look at both profound anecdotal stories of other introverts in high professions and worked in many research articles along with it. While the research in this area might not be as strong as some quantitative research, it's still interesting and suggests further studies in the matter because the results are so intriguing.
Since having read the book, I have posted about it on Facebook and instagram- this book needs to be read by other introverts so they don't feel so alone, exhausted, frustrated and even feel like an imposter. This book tells you why. 100% recommend!

Fascinating! I always knew I was an intovert. However, I never thought about how this aspect spilled over into my work life (how much I hate break-out sessions at work and why I relish the quiet time when I get home). It also explains why my out of character personality (a physician who must shepard patients through difficult illnesses) often leaves me emotionally exhausted. This book explains the science and the social aspects of being an introvert and how introverts must navigate in a world where more than 50% of society are extroverts and a workplace that wants you to act like one. Kudos to Susan Cain!
Highly recommend to educators, parents or anyone wishing to be in a relationship with an introvert. I found this book quite revelatory.
Although it took me quite awhile to get through this entire book I found it fascinating and I think everyone should read it. I found myself analyzing everyone around me and trying to figure out where they were on the introvert/extrovert spectrum :-). There were some great insights into my own little family that I especially loved. I found myself constantly telling Mike everything I was reading because I was so interested by all the studies and examples the author shared.
One of my favorite sections described people who are high-reactive, which describes Addie so well. There was a lot to be said about them but here is one of my favorite quotes, "...many children are like dandelions, able to thrive in just about any environment. But others, including the high-reactive types that Kagan studied, are more like orchids: they wilt easily, but under the right conditions can grow strong and magnificent."

Good information but wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping to get "how" information instead of a lecture.
Finally finished! I liked the perspective that I gained from this book. It's quite interesting whether you identify as being an introvert or an extrovert. I listened to the audio book which was good to keep my attention, but I did find my brain wandering to other things every so often. I'm not sure that I would have gotten through the whole thing if I were reading the book rather than listening.
