Picked the wrong time for this book and just haven’t felt compelled to try again. Maybe someday!
I slogged my way through as I hate not finishing a book and it feels a bit pointless giving up only about 30 pages from the end, but after the 4.9th brutal dog death and the outlook looking bleak for all the humans, and I’ve messed up my sleep by procrastinating on instagram rather than pick this up, so I’m done. It’s well-written and interesting to read about Sikh Caribbean culture but the plot is just too much for my lil nervous system right now.

A rich, powerful novel, filled with grief, tragedy and insight.
Unique setting, and the plot was decent to start. Did not like the animal abuse that occurred multiple times, most of the characters were not likable, and the ending was very depressing (and somewhat predictable)
