Almost a fanfiction but not really a fanfiction, it was really good! A little bit of erotism sometimes, just the right amount and I really loved Sadie and Jax!

Cute and lighthearted. Enjoyed it overall but the characters immaturity was a bit annoying.
I mean, does this even compare with the Too far series? Because I just can't. I know this book came before Fallen too far, and they are pretty much the same story, but omg the only thing i liked about it was how strong Sadie was. That's it.
Not my favourite of the series, but then I've been reading them out of order. It was a sweet if slow and predictable read. The characters have a nice arc in growth from beginning to end that leaves the reader more satisfied at the end than they might have expected to be.
I am refraining from rating this book, because in all fairness, I did not finish it. Again.
Sometimes I consider whether I just go looking for books that I know will piss me off.
Breathe by Abbi Glines is a cutesy YA romance about Saddie, a seventeen year-old girl working in the place of her pregnant mother. Her summer job is to clean and work at the summer holiday mansion of famous rockstar Jax. Mystically, Saddie is oblivious to Jax's fame, fortune, good-looks, charm, musicality, AND his soft spot for his special small fans (which we are treated to in a very special scene early on in the book! Can't you just wait to see Jax's loving nature with children and how it's so great that Saddie has to... cry!) The sarcasm is real.
The Characters
Saddie. She's beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, but... she doesn't know it. Ha. Ha. Ha. However, she does know that there is something about her that draws everyone's eyes, so the goal of her life is to remain as dull, naive, and mature as possible.
Saddie was frankly just annoying. She did nothing but sit back at watch stupid boys fight over her, all the while acting like timid kitten (cute, but with a hidden agenda). Here are some select quotes that I hope can explain even better how idiotic and clique our pretty Saddie is:
"I hated attention and did whatever I could to draw little to myself. Even though it seemed to be getting harder the older I got."
"If having a dull personality kept me from following in her footsteps, then I would embrace it."
"Guys were a species I knew nothing about."
And my favourite. This one about falling in love with Jax.
It didn't mean I would be silly enough to be attracted to him like the rest of the world"
Kind of ironic, considering that after knowing him for what? Two hours? You do that exact thing. Sadie was supposed to be this strong, mature character who grew up too quickly because of her mother's idiotic tendencies, and can therefore smell BS a mile away. Instead, we are presented with an innocent daisy who... who... she's just stupid.
Jax
Rockstar. Millionaire. Jerk. No. I wouldn't even call him that. To be a jerk, you have to have some depth, some character. Jax is so unbelievably 2D that you would be right in calling him a picture. Because that's all he is - a pretty picture who happens to have a charming smile and think that because he can play the guitar, and has "steel blue eyes" everyone wants him.
"He happened to be one of the most beautiful creations known to man."
"When I saw you, and you were young and well ...attractive, I thought the only reason someone like you would be working here would be to get close to me. I deal with females quite a bit, and my assuming you were working here to get near me wasn't fair."
I am on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine this month, and on the bedroom walls of every teenage girl in America."
Literally all Jax is good for being Saddie's perfect partner. I'm bored of talking about him already so moving on!
Marcus
'"Marcus Hardy." I slipped my hand into his, and he shook it. "Sadie White." He nodded, still grinning, and reached for his tray, "I saw your brave performance yesterday as you secured your job here. It amazed me how your eyes went from nervous to determined in less than a second." He picked up the tray in front of him, and I smiled and lifted the tray set before me.'
It was at this moment, that I realised...
Love Triangle
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Enough said.
Saddie's Mother
"Remembering who the adult was in our relationship could be difficult at times."
I hated Saddie's mother with a passion. She was so spoilt and immature that I could imagine wrapping my hands around her pretty little neck. Her beauty apparently caused her to get knocked up by a married man, resulting in Saddie, and ever since she has wallowed in self pity, therefore neglecting Saddie and leaving her to raise herself. But now she's gone and gotten herself knocked up again, and her lazy ass is demanding that Saddie do everything for her, including taking over her job.
Now don't get me wrong, I am by no means any fan of Saddie, but her mother! My God! I have never read of a more self-obsessed, disgusting person in my life.
"Mom, I can't just go to your work place and take your position. They won't be okay with your seventeen-year-old daughter doing your job." She pulled the pillow from her face and tossed me a sulk she'd perfected years ago. "Sadie I cannot continue cleaning house with my stomach the size of a beach ball. I'm so hot and tired. I need you to help me. You always figure stuff out."
"Do you have any idea how hot I am with all this extra weight?" she shot back at me.
Conclusion
If I finished it, it would have been a one out of five. I'm sure you can guess the rest of the storyline as well. I predict Saddie falls in love with Jax. Jax leaves at end of summer, Saddie rebounds with Marcus. Jax comes back... blah blah blah.
Ain't nobody got time for that.

I really expected more out of this book. I knew that Jax and Sadie were in love the minute they met each other but, like every other book, on of them think they need to leave the other to "keep them safe". In this case, it was Jax. He wanted Sadie to not be in the spotlight like he always was.
I liked this book on very small terms. It was a sweet romance between two people from completely different worlds. Still, Sadie annoyed me beyond belief. She was just so "trusting" but when something happened in a magazine, she freaked.
Jax was always leaving Sadie saying he "wasn't good enough for her". That annoyed me so much! I know some find it sweet, but if I was dating a guy and he said he wasn't good enough for me I could understand it, but if he kept on trying to leave me, I would just move on! Like, Sadie, he thinks he isn't good enough, tell him he is and MOVE ON!
I recommend this series to fans of romance/chick lit and Abbi Glines.

took me forever and a day to read this. cringe central 101. can't believe I used to read this ðŸ˜
The cover may make this seem like a NA book, or even an erotic book, but no worries, this is pure YA. At least in my definition of YA/NA. The main character is a High School Student/teenager, there is no sex.
Sadie is a wonderful, delightful character and I loved her to bits. Seriously, the things she does are amazing. Her mom is pregnant (Yes, due to stupidity (at least that is what I would call it when someone doesn't use protection)) and Sadie takes care of most things (also taking care of her mom). So when her mom can't work due to her pregnancy being too much, Sadie takes over her mom's job. Which is not something a lot of teenagers would just do in the summer when they have free time. She just did it and thanks to her matureness (which is logical if one has to take care of so much) she got the job.
I loved how she was around Jax, while normal girls would squeal and run around him like crazy, she is totally unfazed and not impressed with him. This made me so happy. I was worried she might turn out to be a rabid fan after all, but no, no. She falls for Jax, because of how he is in normal life/real life. She knows she shouldn't fall in love, after all relationships when one of the partners is famous tend to not work out. But she can't stop her love. And it was just delightful to see her trying and Jax trying and in the end they just couldn't stay away.
I loved Sadie for other reasons as well. For how she is around other people, how even though she has a job, she does so many other things. She is even loosening up and going to friends or parties. I really liked that, since she does deserve it so much.
Jax, ah Jax. I loved him. He was so sweet and nice. Totally not what I expected, I had expected a more stuck-up/spoiled star, but instead we have a guy who just wants things to be normal, who just wants to take some time away from all the fuss.
I loved how he was around Sadie. How he treated her like a queen, how fun they were together. How natural it all seemed. How he tried to warn her, tried to protect her from his famous lifestyle. He did at least try.
His jealous side was just adorable. And I could just imagine his face when he saw Marcus talking to Sadie.
The character I disliked most would be the mother. She is what? Around 40 years old? Maybe younger? Sorry, at times I was thinking that she was just 15 or 16. Given how she acted, how stupid she was with her decisions, how she let her kid do everything. I felt sad for the little baby. I may hope he has a better and more fun life than Sadie has. Though we saw how the mom acted around the baby. And sorry, maybe it is partially to blame to a disease/illness, but I am also fairly sure it is just another one of mom's antics and not wanting to take responsibility. Some people shouldn't have kids, that is what I will say to this part. I know it is harsh, but sorry, she is not a responsible adult. She lets her kid do everything, has to be reminded of bills, of using condoms when having sex and so much more.
I also didn't really like Marcus. He was a great friend, but I didn't like how he kept pushing Sadie and how he made her doubt things. I know why he did it, but he should see she will never see him like that.
The book isn't only about Sadie and Jax's relationship. Sure this is a big part, but it is also about Sadie and her needing to let go. Her mom needs to step up and become the adult again and not let her kid do everything. Then we also have friendship and of course Jax's famous lifestyle. All in all, a book that has everything. Swoon-worthy romance and real life problems.
The ending was just sooooo cute, and made me smile a lot. I am happy to see it ended like this and not the way I was thinking.
I would truly recommend this book to everyone!
