I think this book is the first book she ever wrote. That is my guess, because it was in EVERY WAY inferior to the others I've read. The love story is super fast and not in a good way, everything is just super implausible and awkward and seriously I cringed most of the way through it. I wanted to stop reading many times, but I though, I REALLY liked the other two, so this one has to get better, right? Nope. No it does not.
Meh. It was okay. The ending just stopped. I guess that's what you get when there are right books in this series. Not sure if I'll read the others but this one was okay.
Cute book about Sadie, who has to parent her pregnant mom. Sadie has to take over for her mother at her mom's job as housekeeper in a mansion in tony Sea Breeze, AL. Little does Sadie know that the house is the refuge of teen heartthrob Jax Stone.
This was a sweet, quick and easy read and a nice light romance. I guess being more than twice as old as the main characters, I had a hard time believing the entire story. (Who falls in love immediately? Fine, I fell for my husband pretty darn quick... What virginal teen manages to orgasm the first time she's been intimate in any way with a boy?) Still, it was a fun read and great beach reading.

3 stars! I originally gave it 4 but there were a LOT of things I didn't enjoy about this book. I want to say I thought this was a little ridiculous but when I read it I did like it for what it was so I can't rate it less than 3 :)
Talk about a guilty please, though I'm not guilty at all for liking this. Abbi Glines has a writing style different from anything else I've read. It's easy to read, it's sweet, and heart-warming.
I did not expect to like this book as much as I did going into it. I figured it'd just be another okay book from Abbi Glines. But it proved to me that you must read more than one book, more than two even, from an author before you decide how you feel about them. This is my second book by her i've read. And I am reading all her older books, so her writing styles and storytelling hasn't had the time to improve. I'm sure the more I read the better they will be, but needless to say, I adored "Breathe".
It was this sweet young adult book (with lots of sexy fun times) that pressed on subjects like growing up, first love, and responsibility. I felt like it was just this really cute summer book but it also had these extra parts to it that made it so much more. I loved all the characters: Ms. Mary, Marcus, Jax, Sadie, etc, except for her mother. I didn't like her mother at all. I found her to be lazy and irresponsible. i felt like she changed a little for the better toward the end, but since she made her "big change" and we never got to see it I didn't like her any better when the book ended. I respected Sadie for taking on all the responsibility but also it made me mad but that it just NOT OKAY. Her mom should have taken care of her so I loved how Ms. Mary was sort of her mother too.
I really liked Marcus. A lot. I really wished that he would have gotten Sadie in the beginning and then I shipped Jax with her as the story progressed, so I'm stoked to read Marcus' story. By the way, THAT ENDING WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY CUTE AWWW.
Some things I didn't like about this book is how a few times some of the lines felt a little weird, like maybe it wasn't realistic in terms of something someone would actually say. I can only describe this as "stiff" dialogue, but it was not often and often I just ignored it because I was so into the story. I also found Sadie at some points to be a little annoying. I liked it all through the book except when she says "the darkness" hit her toward the end, as if what happened was the end of the world. But overall she had a lot on her plate for a teenage girl and I suppose her life was a bit overwhelming. Even though I still find her to be a little dramatic. I also really didn't find the whole "air" thing that cute. It was fine but super cheesy. I was just laughing out loud about how silly those lines were, like they were soulmates even though they'd just met it seemed. I know it took a little while realistically but I felt like the fell a bit too soon for each other but overall I really liked the progression of their relationship.
Overall, I really enjoying reading this book. All that bugged me was the cheesy lines thrown in and a few actions of some characters. Other than that, I freaking liked it A LOT. It was cute, sweet, and it made me feel all fluffy inside. I can't wait to read the next one because Marcus was so great in this one.

Er zijn van die verhalen waar je geen genoeg van kan krijgen. Die je keer op keer leest, ook al ken je het hele verhaal inmiddels van buiten. Ze hebben, net als de Disney films die je nog steeds af en toe op zet (geef maar toe ;) ), iets magisch dat je steeds laat terugkeren om nog een keer van het verhaal te genieten. Breathe is voor mij daar een voorbeeld van. Ik heb het inmiddels al tig keer herlezen, maar als ik een leesdip heb of het na een tijdje weer tegen kom dan kan ik niet anders dan dit boek nog een keer lezen. Zoals ook een paar dagen geleden. Het had al de hele dag geregend en op de een of andere manier kwam ik het weer tegen op mijn e-reader. Zonder te aarzelen sloeg ik het boek meteen open, want ik wist dat dit mijn sombere gevoel en het regenachtige weer binnen een mum van tijd zou doen vergeten!
Waarom trekt Breathe me nu zo aan? Oké, ik heb een zwak voor verhalen over beroemde mensen die verliefd worden op the girl next door, maar dat is niet het enige waarom dit boek tot mijn favorieten behoort, nee! Het heeft namelijk vooral te maken met de personages, voornamelijk onze hoofdpersoon, Sadie. Het is elke keer dat ik dit verhaal lees heerlijk om haar uit haar schulp te zien kruipen. Eindelijk plezier te maken in plaats van voor haar moeder te zorgen. Om haar verliefd te zien worden. Na al die jaren van zorgen en hard werken heeft ze dit zeker verdiend! Daarnaast kan ik ook niet genoeg krijgen van haar down-to-earth karakter en haar absolute eerlijkheid. Ze zegt waar het op staat en is helemaal niet bang voor de gevolgen! Een echte meid naar mijn hart! Ik wou dat er meer hoofdpersonages als haar waren, dat zou het lezen een stuk leuker maken!
Daarnaast laat Breathe ook de andere kant zien van beroemd zijn. Waar het continue in de spotlight staan niet alleen rozengeur en maneschijn is, laat staan als je de vriendin van een rockster bent, wat op een zeer realistische manier wordt beschreven. Deze keer geen belachelijke misverstanden die zo opgelost hadden kunnen worden als iemand zijn mond had open getrokken. Geen vergezochte situaties die makkelijk voorkomen hadden worden. Nee, in Breathe gaat het om daadwerkelijke problemen, die niet zo een twee drie opgelost kunnen worden, met soms hartbrekende gevolgen. Niet elk koppel is namelijk bestemd voor een happily ever after… (en nee, dit is geen major spoiler ;) )
Waar Sadie goed uitgewerkt en “vlezig” aanvoelde, kwam Jax wat bleekjes over. Leek het niet alsof hij een helemaal uitgewerkt personage was. Hij een goed ontwikkeld, eigen karakter had. Vooral als het op gevoelens aankwam viel hij in herhaling en deed precies hetzelfde, jammer genoeg. Desalniettemin was ik dol op de manier waarop hij met Sadie omging. Hoe hij haar probeert te beschermen. Haar uit haar schild probeert te halen en ben ik dol op zijn grote hart. Oh, wees echter niet bang dat hij als de perfecte prins op het witte paard wordt neergezet, zeer zeker niet! Nee, hij wordt neergezet als een echt mens, die fouten kan maken en ook minder goede eigenschappen heeft. Wat hem natuurlijk nog aandoenlijker maakte :)

Conclusie
Ook al zal ik Breathe nooit de volle 5 sterren kunnen geven, daar is Jax iets te tweedimensionaal voor, zal het altijd een van mijn favoriete verhalen blijven. Ik kijk nu alweer uit naar de volgende keer dat ik dit boek zal lezen :) Breathe heeft gewoon iets wat je telkens doet terug keren naar Sadie en Jax, al is het maar om lekker te zwijmelen of opnieuw de frisse wind te ervaren die Abbi Glines met dit boek heeft gecreëerd. Even geen standaard gebeurtenissen, maar een uniek verhaal met realistische hobbels onderweg, een verhaal waar niet alles vanzelfsprekend is!

quick, easy little read full of romance. pretty predictable but I still enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this book but I did find a good chunk of the romance between Jax and Sadie to be incredibly cheesy. I'm just as much a hopeless romantic as the next girl but some parts were even to dramatic for me to handle. Really enjoyed the story and writing and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
