Sadie had hoped for a summer job working at the beach but instead she’s working in her mother’s place as a maid in a mansion. She spends her days working in the kitchen and in the garden but she quickly learns that the owner of the house is none other than teen rock star Jax Stone. Unlike most girls her age she’s not impressed by the fact that he’s a rock start she’s not even a fan of his music. Jax is surprised that she’s not a crazy fan trying to break into his room to spray perfume on his pillow. Jax is enchanted by how different she is from the typical girls he meets and can’t help be attracted to Sadie.
Sadie’s life isn’t easy her mom is pregnant and if she doesn’t work they won’t be able to eat or have power which is more than a 17 year old girl should deal with. She also hasn’t made any friends since moving to Alabama but Marcus is quick to change that he’s a few years old also working at the mansion. What Sadie didn’t expect to happen was to fall for Jax or for him to fall for her. Even though she knows he is leaving at the end of summer and they only have a little bit up time she jumps into dating him. Neither expected to fall in love, nor did they expect it to last past the summer. Things won’t be the same and lives will be changed forever.
I fell in love with Sadie right from the start she’s had a hard life and I think that makes her a character that feels real which I loved. I'm
a sucker for broken people finding love even if they are a rock star and his maid that just makes it better. I wanted to love Jax but we are also introduced to Marcus who I instantly liked also so I was torn between the guys but I think she chooses the right one in the end. I also liked a few of the supporting characters like Ms. Mary and Mr. Greg who worked at the mansion and I felt treated Sadie than her mom.
I've wanted to read a book by Abbi Glines for ages but never seemed to fit one in until I found one on my reading challenge for the week. I was instantly sucked into Sadie’s story, she’s not your typical teenager but more of an old soul and I loved it. I liked the idea of the rock star falling for his maid but I’m not a fan or love triangles or insta love at first sight. That being said Sadie is unlike the girls that Jax is used to meeting so it’s no surprise he would instantly fall in love with her. The author has done a great job creating a story that captures the imagination and flows along smoothly from start to finish. I enjoyed the book it was a quick read for me, hard to put down I just had to know how it was all going to play out. It’s your traditional contemporary romance very “Maid in Manhattan” or “ Pretty woman” story rich guy poor broken girl. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed it because those are both two of my favorite must watch movies. I also like the fact the story is a clean romance which means teens as well as adults will fall in love with the book. I’m looking forward to exploring her other books. I already have the next book on my kindle ready to go and I cheated to make sure the next one was about the boy she didn't pick.....can't wait.

Ugh, I don't even know why I finished this. Probably because I really have to hate a book to DNF it, and it was an easy read. But this book is just so LAME and badly written. Honestly, I'm shocked that it was published as a real book, because it reads like really bad fanfiction. I've read tons of self-published stuff that was better than this, and that just makes me sad for those authors.
I love stories about "normal" people having relationships with celebrities, but this was the worst of its kind I've read. Don't bother!

This is one of the worst books I've ever read. This is what you would expect to read in a, very cliche, online fanfiction.
Okay, maybe it was unfair to re-read this book now that I am no longer in my teenage years, but an adult.
I just knew that I loved this series and I wanted to see whether this still is the case. Spoiler: no, it is not. I do realize now that this series is intended for teenagers or young adults only, I guess? The writing, the behavior of the characters, everything screams "juvenile audience only!".
A major point why this is a no for me is probably the smut in this book. Like, Sadie is 17 (but sometimes behaves like a 14 year old) and damn was I uncomfortable.
So, yeah, no, I will not continue to re-read this series. It should have stayed in my past.

I decided to DNF this book for now. I really enjoyed the first half, but I just realized how much the insta-love bothered me. I looked at spoilers and it made me not want to finish it because I'm sick of reading books where the guy leaves the girl and she gets all sad and depressed and I can't take it. They knew each other for less than a month and they can't live without each other! That's my biggest pet peeve in romance books. Where are the independent girls that don't need a guy to be happy? That's who I am and I wanna read more books like that. I'm getting sick of reading YA romances because of how unrealistic they are. I guess I'm also bitter because I'm 21 and I've never had a boyfriend. I'm sick of reading about 16 year old girls that found their soulmate already. It's getting so old.

Hauptsächlich habe ich das Buch lesen wollen, weil ich die Rosemary Beach Reihe der Autorin sehr mag. Ab und zu lese ich wirklich gern mal eine Geschichte mit ordentlich Teenie/Tweenie-Drama. Leider konnte mich der Auftakt der Sea Breeze Reihe nicht so überzeugen.
Inhaltlich geht es um Jax, einen jugendlichen (19) Rockstar. Er verbringt gerade einen kleinen geheimen Familienurlaub in Sea Breeze. Die zweite Hauptperson im Buch ist Sadie. Sie ist 17 Jahre jung und frisch nach Sea Breeze gezogen. In ihren Sommerferien muss sie den Job ihrer schwangeren Mutter übernehmen. Als Mädchen für alles fängt sie im Haus einer reichen Familie an. Natürlich ist dies Jax' Haus. Ein wenig hat das ganze etwas von Cinderella oder Pretty Woman. Immer wieder wird klar wie weit die Welten der beiden auseinanderliegen und doch fühlen sich beide so zu einander hingezogen. Für Sadie ist natürlich alles viel schwerer als für Jax. Zum einen muss sie arbeiten und zum anderen sind ihre häuslichen Verhältnisse alles andere als einfach. Ihre Mutter ist sehr Ich-bezogen, schwanger und nutzt Sadie komplett aus. Das alles bietet eigentlich viel Stoff für eine interessante Geschichte. Leider zog es sich aber sehr und viele Stellen waren mir dann doch zu teeny-dramatisch-kitischig inszeniert. Diese Art Drama gab es zwar auch in der Rosemary Beach Reihe, aber da war es nicht so kitschig wie hier und kam Knall auf Fall. Hier plätscherte alles über die Hälfte des Buches nur so dahin. Es passierte so gar nichts. Wirklich geändert hat sich das erst im letzten Drittel. Da wurde es dann mal etwas dramatischer, aber so richtig reißen konnte es das dann auch nicht mehr.
Der Schreibstil ist gewohnt angenehm. Nichts ausschweifendes, kompliziertes. Es lässt sich einfach locker leicht lesen.
Zur Spannung habe ich ja eigentlich schon alles gesagt. Ich habe mich leider über lange Strecken gelangweilt. Es war zwar noch angenehm zu lesen, aber der Wunsch nach einer Pause wieder zum Buch zu greifen war nicht sehr hoch. Lediglich das letzte Drittel war dann doch recht unterhaltsam spannend zu lesen.
Emotional hat es mich nicht mehr so angesprochen wie die Rosemary Beach Reihe. Ich muss aber sagen, dass ich auch nicht zur Zielgruppe gehöre. Ich liege schon deutlich darüber und das merkte ich dieses mal wirklich sehr. Ich konnte mit den kitschig-romantischen Liebesbekundungen, die der neureiche Jungspunt hier seiner armen, naiven Angebeteten macht, nicht mehr viel anfangen. Allerdings glaube ich schon, dass die Mädeln im jugendlichen Alter dahinschmelzen werden.
Jax ist ein sehr angenehmer Charakter. Er hat zwar auch die typischen Neandertaler-Ambitionen wie so gut wie jeder männliche Charakter, den die Autorin schreibt, aber er ist einer der nettesten überhaupt. Er ist nie selbstsüchtig, aber natürlich total von sich überzeugt. Ein toller Held für eine Teeny-Liebesgeschichte. Sadie ist an sich ein interessanter und sympathischer Charakter, aber vor allem in Sachen Liebe wurde sie mir wieder zu sehr als das naive, unerfahrene Dummchen hingestellt. Auch hier denke ich, dass es einfach daran liegt, dass ich nicht mehr zur Zielgruppe gehöre. Mich konnte das nicht wirklich ansprechen. obwohl die Liebesgeschichte an sich echt süß war. Es war auch viel romantischer als in der Rosemary Beach Reihe. Die erotischen Szenen hat die Autorin wieder sehr heiß geschrieben und sie standen dieses Mal auch nicht so extrem im Vordergrund. Das fand ich klasse.
