Even though Sadie is supposed to be the child in the relationship with Jessica, she found herself acting like the parent more often than not. That is what got her into the predicament at the Stone resident. Jessica, her mother, is pregnant and couldn’t go to work, so she puts is on Sadie to go for her. Sadie isn’t sure that they are going to let her work in her mother’s place. When she arrives at the Stone residence, she has to prove to Ms. Mary that she is not going to be some crazy teenager when the owner and rock star heartthrob, Jax Stone, show up.
While working at the Stone mansion, Sadie makes friends and catches the eye of Jax. She and Jax start spending as much time together as they can given their schedules. She knows as soon as she starts things with Jax that it is not going to have a happy ending. He will go back to his world and she will only have memories of the time she spent with him. What will happen between Sadie and Jax? How will Jessica deal with their relationship?
I have read a lot of books by Glines recently and really like her writing style. Even though Sadie is “beautiful” and is told that multiple times throughout the book, she still doesn’t believe it. Not that she necessarily has self-esteem issues, but I don’t think she has had a lot of time to think about it. She just thinks that she is not as pretty as her mother and that is the ending of her thinking on the matter. I liked that she is not stuck on her beauty like some of the girls her age that you read about.
Sadie has some other qualities that are admirable. She takes care of her pregnant mother. This doesn’t end after her mom gives birth. Why should it? Sadie has been doing it for a long time. She is a hard worker and doesn’t let her teenage curiosities get the better of her. She needs this job to support her family – a thing she shouldn’t have to think about at her age. I don’t need to reiterate that Sadie is responsible.
Jax is a rock star; a teenage rock star that has oodles of girls fawning over him. That is the reason that he doesn’t want any teenage girls to work at his summer home, his one place where he can go and be “normal” for a while. When he first sees Sadie, he thinks that she snuck into his house to get his autograph or just get close to him. It baffles him that she doesn’t act all fangirl on him and actually is concerned about her job. I like Jax in this story. Even though he is this big star, you learn how grounded he is. He doesn’t think that he is on a level up in the stratosphere while Sadie belongs in the dirt.
This book was a fun read. Who doesn’t want the rock star to fall in love with you? It seems like a fairy tale, like a modern-day The Prince and the Pauper. I like the way Sadie learns to rely on other people. If Jax had been in a “boy band,” I probably wouldn’t have I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the story as much. Just saying…

This is the second Abbi Glines series I'm starting. It's not hooked me in quite yet like Rosemary Beach, but I ate this up. AG books have an easiness about them that hooks me in. The writing is easy to get into. The characters are fun, if a little surface level.

Heads up to all One Direction, Justin Bieber, Someone Simpson fans out there; if you want to fantasize about a rock star falling in love with a self-proclaimed ordinary girl, this book is for you.
I must say that this book really kept me on my toes. I tried doing something else (like maybe packing for a move?) but I couldn't keep my eyes off of it! I'm not used to lovey-dovey books like this one, where romance is the main plot, and it took me a while to get used to the overly-attached rock-star-of-a-boyfriend, but overall it was okay. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, I for say, don't idolize any male (or even female) celebrity, so all this was a little weird at first (what kept me reading was that the main character wasn't clingy though). I still read it cover-to-cover in a three day period, and I can tell you that it is really addictive.
I would give the book a 16+ rating, due to the descriptive make-out sessions, and a little bit of explicit contents. It's not extravagant, but it does shock (at least for me) a little.
Spoiler
And can I just say that I had this HUGE gut feeling that Jessica (the mom) would have a baby boy? Haha! I knew it.I picked this book for a challenge a group I'm in started on Goodreads. I was interested because I don't usually go for this kind of of genre, and I got what I asked for. I gave the book two stars, simply because I wasn't impressed by the way it was written. I found a couple of misprints throughout the book, which was a big turn off for me. For example, it wrote: "It was a little easier to breath." BREATHE, not BREATH! And that's not all there was, except it is the only quote I highlighted on my kindle. I understand things like that happen, but I personally have never encountered misprints as obvious as this before...
In conclusion, I gave the book a low rate because to me, falling in love with a rock star or fantasizing about one is foreign. Not only that, but the typos were quite annoying to read. I love diversity in my readings, so because of that I can't say I hated it completely. The relationship between the main characters made me melt a couple times, that I have to admit. So, if you're looking for a cute/sexy book to read, this is the book you're looking for.
Glad this one is over. I couldn't connect with it at all. It had an extremely immature feel to it, and it was cheesy as cheesy could be at some parts.
I felt no connection between Sadie and Jax, and for her to fall in love after two weeks... I can understand it because she's seventeen and doesn't know any better, but I just couldn't wrap my head around this one.

this was just a little too young for me. the thought process of the characters were just a little too naive. I was told that the following books in the series are with older characters so I'm hoping that the inner dialogues won't be so immature.
I enjoyed this book, but it was missing something important. I never fell in love with the love interest Jax. I felt this way about the first book in the Rosemary beach series so I'm optimistic that I'll fall in love with the series a couple books in. Looking forward to starting the second book tonight!
Oi vey.
So ya, here I am back in the Abbi-verse, this time in Sea Breeze, Alabama. This place can't exist, I mean that name is made for a soap opera, there's no way it's on a map. I say this as someone too un-involved to even look up a map of Alabama though.
This is the book where Abbi lost her virginity and published her tales of romance and true love in book form. As far as I can tell, this one pre-dates her usually overwhelming incest fetish as well as her gifted ability to write 'the racy stuff'.
Breathe (creative title) is about a 17 year old girl named something plain, Sally or Sarah, something with an S, and she moved to Sea Breeze with her single, very pregnant mother. Her mother is aloof and lazy so Sandy takes over her job for the summer cleaning for a manor. Much to her surprise, the house belongs to famed pop sensation Justin Bieber. Since Justin Bieber is young and famous, Selena has to keep her mouth shut about him living in town as well as avoid being a nuisance in his home. Unfortunately, she is the EPITOME OF BEAUTY! Blonde curly hair (like Blair from Never too Far) with AMAZING NATURAL LASHES (just like Della from Twisted Perfection) and the body of a seventeen year old that older boys just can't seem to shake, therefore Justin instantly falls in love with her. There's a small love triangle with a dude that is waaay nicer than Justin, but it's a useless endeavour because Justin and Shelly are married the moment their eyes meet, so how dare another guy try to be friendly and romantic with! RUDENESS!
The book drags for a bit here, they go on some dates and hang out around Sea Breeze, then when the media catches wind of this romance, Justin dumps Sasha because he doesn't want her to be forced into the spotlight and he'll be going back to his normal lifestyle in the fall. But breaking up solves nothing because the kids at her new high school are relentless. I mean they try to TALK to her and ASK QUESTIONS! the NERVE!
So then some bad things keep happening to Stacy and just when you think things can't get worse - COMA! Goddamn comas, they are always popping out of nowhere in YA, it's an epidemic. But this, this was a MIRACLE COMA because it brings Scarlet and Justin back together, solves her mother's post-partum depression and makes her male friend no longer jealous of her relationship with teen superstar, Justin Bieber. Fin. The groundbreaking piece that catapulted Abbi into the world of romance novels.
lol, I finally checked on her name - it's Sadie.
eta: fun fact, there were 3 different mary's mentioned in this book

aside from the dialogue being so stilted and awkward - is the author a non native speaker? - this book is essentially Twilight with no vampires. There might have been some redeeming qualities, but I must have missed them as I cringed my way through this. And there's a sequel- what??
Okay, so I'm not going to lie. I was smitted by Jax because I will always hold a soft spot for musicians. The story is predictable but sweet, all too familiar and cheesy, and a bit boring at times. It was okay :)
The only thing that I was thoroughly disappointed in was WHY WERE THERE NO SEX SCENES huhu. No Jax Stone sweating and naked and getting worked up nooooooo
