After reading and falling in love with the rosemary beach series I thought I would give the sea breathe series a try and wow I loved this first book. Abbi has a gift of being able to portray extremes in society from trailer trash to rich rock star. Her characterazations and vivid descriptions are what brings the story to life.
Breathe is a sweet romance with captivating characters. Told in the first person narrativte from Sadie's point of view at 17 she is far more mature than her years. She has had to be the responsible adult in her family for a long time taking care of herself and her mother. Sadie's mother Rebbecca is what i can only assume a typical white trailer trash and the images that go alongside it, she is incrediably self absorbed and more than a little derograty towards Sadie making her feel socially inept. While Sadie is a lovely person both inside and out she always finds the good in people and has a special draw towards her not realising just how wonderful she really is. Even though Sadie is independent she radiates an air of vulnerablity making people feel the need to protect and look after her.
Jax has obviously had the complete opposite upbringing to Sadie yet for all his wealth and fame he is still lonely. No one sees the real him. At first Jax comes of as a pretenntious jerk but this is just a coping mechanism for him. From their first encounter there is a deep connection between Jax and Sadie she sees the real boy behind the rock star. However the differences in their lifestyles is the one thing Jax wants to protect her from. While he cannot deny his feelings for her he does what he things is best even though it hurts both of them.
While the story centers around the relationship between Sadie and Jax it also provides a nice introduction to the other main characters in the sea breeze series. Breathe moves from heart wrenching. Abbi protrays the relationship roller coaster eliciting swooning to tears and back again

Love it just as much as I did the first time!! I love Sadie and Jax! One of my all time favourite books and this was the one that made me love to read so.... Thank you Abbi!
Romantic, intense, perfect. An amazing book, besides the fact that it's a little bit immature, a book made for teenagers and such. I'm not saying bad things about the book, just saying that it's a little bit childish, that I expected more. I love Jax Stone, wish he could sing me to sleep u.u
I tried really hard with this one, I really did, I wanted to like it so much but it was so unrealistic and had this weird regency-ish vibe that I wasn't feeling at all. And the "special snowflake syndrome" Sadie had did not help matters at all. This story was cute, and if I was 12, I might really have gotten into it.
Almost a fanfiction but not really a fanfiction, it was really good! A little bit of erotism sometimes, just the right amount and I really loved Sadie and Jax!
I really loved the plot in this book. I would have given it 5 stars except I think the author needs to work on her dialogue a little. At times it was very disjointed, very formal; not at all like people converse with each other in real life. If you can look past that and focus on the love story I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.
