Just not very interesting or engaging and the beginning was incredibly slow, a constant back and forth disagreement between her and her uncle where she wants to stay and figure out what happened to her parents and her uncle keeps trying to send her back. It got too repetitive, like when will anything interesting or any adventure actually happen. At over 100 pages in it seemed kind of ridiculous, so with no hope for the boredom to dissipate it's a dnf

So the first third of the book really hooked me - fun banter, an opinionated woman set on her mission and a mystery with a touch of magic. What's not to like, right?
We'll after that the pacing became off, there were just plain mistakes in the writing and finally the whole thing with the mom was just weird. So sadly I can't rate this book higher than 3/5. It was easy to read, yes but the last parts I was mainly amused or annoyed. I might still read the second one but the book did loose a bit of its promise :/
