very YA, but I enjoyed it! historical fiction with a dash of magical realism with an exciting setting. the cliffhanger ending was trash, but hooked me enough to want to read book 2!

This book hs a sweet, slow burn romance, intrigue, and suspense, with a dash of magical realism. The end seemed abrupt, but the rest of the book was simply entertaining.

As a The Mummy lover, I loved the setting of this book! Any treasure hunting plot sucks me right in. A lot happens in this book! While lots of different events occur, the pacing is a little slow in the first half. The FMC’s inner monologue starts to get repetitive. It picks up in the second half and the last 20% is a wild ride (even though it’s a bit predictable)! I loved the chemistry between the love interests. And the yearning between them? Dellllicioussss. 🤌🏼The Epilogue had me like 😳. I definitely need to find out what happens next! There is some kissing / touching in this book but no open-door spice.

4 🌟 because the pacing was a little all over the place in the beginning and it took me a second to really connect with the story.
