The description reminded me of the Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter with some high society etiquette mixed in.
Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality is not your average finishing school. Yes...they learn the art of proper dress, manners, and etiquette...but there is far more to the curriculum than meets the eye. Not even Mademoiselle Geraldine is aware of the true mission of her school.
Sophronia Temminnick is a very inquisitive young lady, which causes her to get into quite a bit of trouble at home. Her mother is delighted when Ms. Geraldine extends an offer to her daughter to attend her very exclusive academy.
The majority of the book is a bit of a mystery as Sophronia and her friends try to locate a missing object that is desperately wanted by an outside group that is threatening the school. There is a werewolf, a vampire, and an all boys school for geniuses which all could have provided the basis for a great story. Unfortunately, this book fell short of my expectations.

This is a cute wacky story. The storyline is interesting there are so many things going on here. You have young girls learning how to be spies/murders in the Victorian era. It is quite comical seeing them be taught their lessons.
While this is a 4 part series you are not left with a major cliffhanger like many series. Which is a major plus for me.

Exactly what I have come to love from Gail Carriger. Her characters are vividly hilarious and she has built a brilliant Steampunk Victorian world that I was too happy to return to after finishing the last Parasol Protectorate book. I was itching for work to be over so I could come home and finish this book. Luckily, I stopped ay Barnes and Nobel for the recently released second installment, Curtsies and Conspiracies. I can't wait to dive right back in.
An enjoyable read that makes me curious about the adult series. While many of the actions of the main character seem more along the lines of a girl of 11 or 12 instead of 14, the vocabulary was certainly in the adult range. I really love Soap's character and hope he will get more page time in future entries.
I read this for a book challenge prompt - Read a book from the Steampunk genre.
Not quite as good as the Parasol Protectorate series, and I wasn't as enamored with the characters, but still a fun and enjoyable read. I'd like to see all the characters get developed more in future books, and see more of the world of the finishing school teachers and how their network of lady spies and assassins works.
Also I'm hoping for an explanation for where all the household mechanicals go in the future? While there are mechanicals in the Parasol Protectorate, there didn't seem to be any serving as maids or butlers and it seems odd that their society would have reverted back to human servants. Just a weird nitpick that I really hope gets a witty explanation.

I didn't love this, but I liked the characters much more than I thought I would. It was a light and fun but not as charming as the Flavia deLuce series, nor as otherworldly as Harry Potter, and so it was a long introduction to characters who might do something a little more interesting in their future adventures. That being said, it would make a visually exciting movie.
