Sophronia learns the finer points of deceit, espionage, and assassination while attending Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality. Now, I'm not all about taking more classes now that I've graduated from college - but I could totally take these kind of classes.
I really enjoyed this book. Especially when no one was annoying me. The names were pretty interesting, but then again I did read a book with a character named Kricket. If the weird names freak you out in books.. just google weird names that people have had in the past or have now. You'll get over it pretty quickly.
Other than that I didn't really know what steampunk would mean in a book but I didn't hate it. I have no idea when I'm going to read the next book in this series but that is only due to the already growing amount of books I want to read next year.
I promise I'll continue this series - I just don't know when.

Certains ingrédients du roman sont très sympa: l'école sur un zeppelin, le chien-robot...mais malheureusement, je trouve les trouve mal exploités. On se retrouve donc avec une histoire qui ne contient aucun élément de mystère (ou d'espionnage!) et on perd vite l'intérêt. J'ai également trouvé certains passages assez niais (notamment certains passages avec les professeurs).
Very clever characters and a great story. I hope it won't be the only time I read about Sophronia.

Just as much fun as Gail Carriger's adult series (Parasol Protectorate). Great characters, fun shenanigans and plenty of crossover details to please readers of the other series.

I listened to this story last time I read it, which was great for all the accents and characters, but it was just as enjoyable in print. English steampunk teen spy shenanigans in the 1850s.
2019: Another re-listen as I make my way through the Parasol-verse again. Such a delightful book. I love Sophronia ❤️

I wanted to love this since I love the Parasol Protectorate series so much but this first book fell a little flat for me. The characters were a little underdeveloped and the plot was missing a few elements that I felt it needed (more about the "prototype"). I do intend to continue with it but I think I may wait until the series is complete before I move. An okay effort but not memorable or outstanding.
