I loved this book! I actually really enjoyed the entire series. But then, I've yet to meet a Jen Turano I do not like! :) Her characters are so flavorful! is it sad that the males are actually my favorites of the pair each time?! They are always so quirky in some way. :)

Caught by surprise by Jen Turano
Thought from the summary of this book it was not one I'd be enjoying, thinking of abduction and things smilar to SVU from tv shows.
I was totally wrong and this is a fun read. Temperance is abducted and Gilbert is the one to find her-in Chicago. She tells him of her ordeal, her old time friend who they grew up together.
Just when you think the Pinkerton man has found the culprits other clues come into play. and just when you think it's been solved again, MORE clues are told.
So many secrets from the past come to light making the mysteries believeable.
Love hearing of how astritic she is in everything she touches. Like mention of the Vanderbilts and Astors from Newport, RI and their cottages-we had just visited one of the marble mansions and I can see how theses characters would fit right in.
This book is not only about Temperance but others, Clementine and all the others who come to play a part.
So many twists and turns, very unpredictable.
I was able to listen to this from the National Library Service and each character had their own voice-was a fun read for me.
Although this is book 3 it can be read as a stand alone.

Another fun, humorous love story by Jen Turano. As always, I enjoy the farcical nature of her stories and the lovable characters she creates.

A wonderful conclusion to a great series! Full of Turano's trademark humor and quirky characters this book had me laughing out loud several times. Gilbert and Temperance were fun together and I enjoyed watching their story play out! The banter was entertaining and the antics of the characters were just the sort of hi-jinks you would expect from Turano! I was sad to see the series end but ready for what the author has next!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

“How is it possible I forgot what an interesting place your mind is?”

Rounding out this series of wallflowers who find their own voice - and a happily-ever-after in the process - is Caught By Surprise and we finally get Temperance's story. And what a story it is! In fact, it's almost like Turano pulled out all the stops for this final book of the series and threw in several tropes at once. Friends-to-more. Impending marriage-of-convenience. Destitute, orphaned heiress. Noble hero. Mistaken identity. Bumbling henchmen. Nefarious villains. Miss Snook's School for the Education of the Feminine Mind. Almost Oscar Wilde-ish in its mayhem and hilarity. At one point it's almost farfetched but you're having too much fun with these characters to care, and you happily suspend disbelief when needed.

Bottom Line: The strength of Caught By Surprise lies in its supporting characters this time around, though Temperance and Gilbert are certainly delightful protagonists. I loved watching their childhood friendship reconnect, their genuine affection and love for each other developing into romantic love much as we saw with Harrison & Gertrude in Out of the Ordinary. I also loved watching Temperance blossom into who she was always created to be. Still, it's the ragamuffin pack of secondary characters that made this story so enjoyable for me - Miss Henrietta, Miss Mabel, Miss Snook, Mr. Barclay, and most definitely the brother-sister team of Eugene and Mercy. Hilarious and endearing, they add further dimension and emotion to the story, and I would love hanging out with them all again sometime.

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I bought for my own collection.)

Caught by Surprise is a wildly appealing story of love and laughter for ladies everywhere. The longtime friendship between our hero and heroine is a solid foundation for robust banter and exasperated declarations.

Jen Turano’s delightful characters, humorous shenanigans, and sweet subtle romance entertain and inspire with sincerity and faith. I highly recommend this story for everyone from teens to the young at heart.

Simply a fun read. Not my usual read at all, but I was abused by it.
