Good military book

This is a good book. With amazing writing that pulls you into the fight and how everyone is feeling. Especially Jack, you both feel sorry for what he is going through and glad he is there to deal with a lot of the idiots in the fleat. I would have given this book a five star but found this is really not my type of book. Though still very much enjoyed reading it, and will eventually read the others in the series.

Engaging space action fleet management. Less desperate version of battle star galatica. Looking forward to more in the series.

It’s military sci-fi, so it’s heavy on the action, which is not my cup of tea. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad for its genre, I can recognise that it’s a good book! The dialogue was interesting af though and I couldn’t wait for the meetings and the Commander drama!
Possitive things about the book:
Likeable main character, women in high military/political positions, very good atmosphere and well though out battles.
Negative things about the book:
Lacking character appearance descriptions, predictable/standard motif of event structure, absence of a map of solar systems that the fleet is traveling through, lacking images of the formations (integral imo as there are commands given about positions that are hard to keep up with if i don’t understand what the initial position is to begin with).

I like the mix of "hero coming back from the dead to save us" and "how to do a military retreat in space." The author obviously has a military background and it comes through in the story.

Not a bad read. There are enough good science fiction concepts and questions - such as how do you communicate across a spread out fleet when relativistic speeds affect and delay communications; also the use of a .1 speed of light speed limit is a clever way to ensure there's no time dilation upon the fleets return to home.

Beyond that, the main character's incredibly overstated self doubt, the overuse of the co-president's questioning of his every move and the baffling formation descriptions that, even when provided, didn't help me with a mental picture - each reduced the enjoyment of a fun and intriguing bit of space opera. I'll probably try the next in the series but there'd need to be a lot less introspection and a bit more plot and character development to hold me beyond that.

Excellent book. I was surprised it was so good. Had to get #2 in the series.

The Lost Fleet can stay lost because I'm not reading any more of this series to see if anyone finds them. Very formulaic.

A fun read

As a first book in the series I quite enjoyed this book. It had great action sequences with ship to ship combat. The characters were alright for the most part but nothing too special. Overall it was pretty enjoyable.
